GLENDALE, Ariz. (INTELLIHUB) — A $2.5 million portable x-ray machine, called the Eagle 60, was deployed at the Phoenix Stadium Monday in advance of Super Bowl XLIX.

The multimillion dollar piece of equipment will scan all truck deliveries for any potential threats.

The system has been touted as “non intrusive” allowing both the truck and its contents to be scanned without removing a single package from the cargo hold.

Officials say they expect at least 200 truck deliveries a day from here on out until the game ends, making the job of scanning every delivery a chore.

The Eagle 60 looks like a transformer. The arm that will scan deliveries unfolds from the truck’s bed in a rectangle that slowly passes over semi-trucks and takes pictures that are sent to a computer operated from the inside by a CBP agent. The computer enhances the images and areas of high-density are examined closely to determine if anything is hidden in them., reports AZ Central.

Although these strict security measures, which even include Black Hawk helicopters, come at an immense cost. In fact the mayor of Glendale, Jerry Weiers, says he believes that the city will lose money on this years Super Bowl, causing concern for the community.

The Daily Signal reported:

Weiers said that Glendale was left in debt after hosting Super Bowl XLII at University of Phoenix Stadium in 2008.

According to ESPN, “[t]he NFL thrives on the perception that football is a powerful economic stimulus; anyone who questions that poses an existential threat. Unsurprisingly, Weiers’ bluntness has not endeared him to the league.”

  1. “The multimillion dollar piece of equipment will scan all truck deliveries for any potential threats.”

    Seriously?? Unfrigginbelievable……….

They use the Superbowl every year as an excuse to come up with or break out some new police state gadget for the sheeple. It’s absolutely pathetic. And the douchebags, of course, just DON’T CARE as long as they get to watch the game.

The Superbowl is nothing but a marketing ploy for the elite. It’s the American version of the Olympics. It’s disgusting.

    God help us all!

  2. “Officials say they expect at least 200 truck deliveries a day from here on out until the game ends, making the job of scanning every delivery a chore.”

A completely useless and unnecessary chore paid for by the American taxpayers. WTF is wrong with the people of this country?

  3. “The multimillion dollar piece of equipment will scan all truck deliveries for any potential threats.”

Not quite ALL trucks will be scanned.

The alphabet agencies’ trucks will be exempt.

  4. My prediction is the sheeple will thank them for violating their God given rights right after they wipe off their sore butts and sing “God Bless ‘merica” and thank their masters for letting us live in the freest country in the world, with the best health care and educational system in the world. Go nfl. Amen.
