American Blackout, a National Geographic program first aired in October 2013, giving a fictional “docudrama” account of a nationwide electrical blackout in the United States, and its severe aftermath. Most of the program is mock “vlogging” by those affected, interspersed with mock “news footage.”

  1. Thanks for the video Rhum, even if the story is a bad one. I was interested in watching it and didn’t have time when it debuted.

  2. Watched and very disappointed. Not even close to a real reenactment
of what would happen. Katrina would have been much closer.
Autrocities happened during Katrina that most people do not even know.

  3. In many respects I thought it was crappy. But when I found it already on youtube I thought to share it because I was NOT disappointed after cajoling a couple of friends (typical sheep) into watching it. It was an eye opener to them, whether they take action now is anyones guess. However, I did make it very clear that if they do not take it seriously I will not help them! That led to a lengthy discussion in which I was lambasted for being such a cruel bastard. By the end they did grudgingly admit that they would never make it 10 days the way they have been living (in the MSM induced catatonia).
It may be too late, but this show did kick them in the head. The next move is on them.
Now I admit, I am not as prepped as I think I should be, but I’m lightyears ahead of many. The show depicted the first 10 days, many will be desperate in that short time. I will be good on most necessities for at least 4-5 months. Not wanting to raise a ruckus here, but I figure when the time comes I’ll take a page from Wm. Sherman’s book on creative foraging. I’ll become one of Uncle Billy’s Bummers just like my yankee g-g-grandfather. If I can use it or trade it, it’s mine!

  4. 1. Obama’s rhetoric in the film is pathetic, yet completely typical.

    2. What about the NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS that run on power. When the power goes down, they are running on two weeks power before total meltdown. Even though this video goes up to ten days, it’s still something that people need to keep in mind. Fukushima type scenario could still happen if they let the power go out longer.

    3. Notice Obama calling for UN help to come in and save them, followed by patriot groups urging people not to give up their arms in the state of martial law.

    4. It looks like this could show just how easily martial law will be implemented. If people start committing crimes, the military would claim they have no choice as the law enforcement agencies would not have enough manpower to handle it all by a long shot.

    5. The looters would have never just let the prepper guy go after the power went back on and all of that. Sorry. I don’t buy that for a second. He saw their faces and the next chance they get, they will murder his ass.

    6. I agree with most commenters, as it will most likely be a lot worse than what they are showing.

    7. I say screw all of this and go directly to Washington and arrest Obama for treason, since we all know he is the one who started it! That crap where they say they don’t know who started it. BULLSHIT!! It was Obama and company. Break out the hemp rope, people.

    1. “1. Obama’s rhetoric in the film is pathetic, yet completely typical.”

YES! And it wasn’t scripted for this show, it was cuts from “REAL” obummer “crisis” address’.

  5. The show was unwatchable! How can you take such a great topic like a blackout and have the program fail so miserably. I’ll tell you how! The herky jerky movements of the camera’s. Watching this program literally makes you nauseous as the TV picture shakes up and down and side to side giving viewers an epileptic seizure. Here’s a memo to all you modern “want-a-be” directors out there. STOP with the jerky camera shots it makes the program unwatchable.

    1. Joe, what part of this did you not understand? It was not meant to be a polished feature film. It was meant to look like individual private people recording on cell phones. ITS GOING TO BE SHAKY!!(in reality, it may be even much worse what people record)
Pissing and moaning about production values shows that you are more interested in trashing Nat Geo than the info.
I agree that Nat Geo did lampoon preppers again, but what is to be expected from MSM?
This was a softball attempt at warning sheep. Nothing more, nothing less.
Just another tool in the wide awake patriots toolbox for alerting sheep. Regardless of what you may say, we all know someone that we wish would get their head out of the dark hole it is in.
