Bloomberg Defends The Second Amendment?

Albany Tribune – by Selywn Duke

Since removing constitutional rights is all the rage now, I have to ask: when does dislocation from reality become severe enough to justify involuntary commitment? A good study case is NYC’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who recently uttered a real gem on his weekly radio show. Writes Politicker.com:

“I don’t think there’s anybody that’s defended the Second Amendment as much as I have, Ray,” Mr. Bloomberg said to a caller who asked him why he was “so against” the constitutional passage. “I think you have a perfect right to buy weapons and keep them for protection or for sport. We have tried to make sure that you have it.”

Well, take that, Wayne LaPierre. You thought you were the point man on gun rights, but you’re actually outshone by Bloomberg, who has defended the Second Amendment more than “anybody.”

Of course, this will come as news to Slate, which recently penned a piecetitled “Beating Guns the Bloomberg Way: The New York mayor, not Obama, knows how to defeat the NRA.” The site credits Bloomberg’s example with being the gold standard for the evisceration of the Second Amendment, writing that, in contrast to Barack Obama’s “moral approach” to playing puppeteer, Bloomberg “has been the exemplar of the alternative, paternalistic model….” Hey, who’s ya’ daddy?

I’m not sure what weapons Bloomberg claims to want us to have; maybe the squirt is talking about squirt guns, although he’s not fond of those if they look too realistic. Heck, this is a guy who finds even really large drinks too intimidating because he has to look up at the rim (joke credit to Dennis Miller).

I don’t like it when crazies get their hands on guns, but it’s even more frightening when crazies get their hands on gun laws. Bloomberg’s assertion is right up there with fellows behind institution walls who insist they’re Napoleon or the Queen of England. Next he’ll be telling us he’s more pro-life than Mother Teresa, more of a Confederate than Robert E. Lee, and more Christian than the Pope.

It really should be made easier to remove officials from their positions when they show the main warning sign of severe mental instability.

That would be liberalism.

Is this the same Bloominidiot that’s been screaming for more gun control?
This can’t be right. Was he on some serious medication that day, or what?

“Next he’ll be telling us he’s more pro-life than Mother Teresa, more of a Confederate than Robert E. Lee, and more Christian than the Pope.”

    Bad analogy, that last one.

The Pope is no more Christian than Hitler or Stalin was.

    • It is I only says:

Plus Bloomberg for got to mention “And, in a stunning revelation which confirms the deception being forced on the public, a US official admitted to Fox News that evidence exists linking the 9/11 attacks to Israeli suspects, but that this particular evidence has been classified! The first suspects arrested after the WTC attacks were not Arabs, either. Three of them were Mossad!
