Colorado Governor Signs Historic Marijuana Bills

Published on May 29, 2013 by MPPstaff

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper signed the first bills in history to establish a regulated marijuana market for adults and initiate the development of a regulatory framework for the cultivation of industrial hemp. The measures were approved by the General Assembly in accordance with Amendment 64, a ballot measure approved by 55% of Colorado voters last November. The Marijuana Policy Project — http://www.mpp.org — was the largest backer of Amendment 64 and lobbied hard for sensible and effective implementation legislation. In the video, MPP’s Mason Tvert explains how the Colorado legalization victory has built momentum for ending marijuana prohibition nationwide.
