Police later arrested Abdul Wahi and charged him with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and related offenses.

6ABC reported:

The man who allegedly shot a Folcroft police officer seven times on Friday morning, and opened fire on a second officer, is under arrest.

The officer who was shot is identified as 25-year-old Officer Christopher Dorman. He is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

The suspect is identified as Donte Brooks Island, aka Abdul Wahi. He is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and related offenses.

Action News was there Friday as Island was escorted to a patrol car to be taken to his arraignment. He is being held on $1 million bail.

Island had been recently released from prison after serving time for drug and firearms violations,District Attorney Jack Whelan said.

The shooting happened behind an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Elmwood Street around 10 a.m. Friday.

Authorities say Dorman was dispatched to the location for a report of a man possibly dealing drugs.

Dorman arrived on the scene and confronted Island, police say. There was a struggle and Island allegedly drew his weapon and shot Dorman seven times.

  1. *** Island had been recently released from prison after serving time for drug and firearms violations, District Attorney Jack Whelan said. ***

Can they name any victims of those drug and firearms violations? Did Island force someone to use drugs? Did he threaten any innocent people with a firearm? If the answer to these questions is “no,” then his imprisonment was unjust.

*** Authorities say Dorman was dispatched to the location for a report of a man possibly dealing drugs. ***

No victim? No crime. The pigs should have kept their snouts out of it.

*** Dorman arrived on the scene and confronted Island, police say. There was a struggle and Island allegedly drew his weapon and shot Dorman seven times. ***

Regardless of what happens to Island now, he proved his superiority over Dorman.

    1. island proved himself to be a coward..that’s all he did..you want to think like that then stand on that. no reason to shoot a unsuspecting soul…

A coward will always be nothing more than a coward..

      1. Stick around the Trenches and you’ll come out of the Matrix.

Unsuspecting soul? How many unsuspecting souls of our people are tazed, assaulted and murdered by cops?

Do the James Boyd’s and Miriam Keery’s not count as unsuspecting souls in your mind?

        Vote Trump, right?

      2. Anon, your statement is absurd. Island was confronted by that “unsuspecting soul” who was armed, who was probably wearing a Kevlar vest, who had lots of armed friends just a radio call away, and who had the support of the entire legal system. The odds were completely against Island and in favor of Dorman. Yet Island chose to fight anyway. In what delusional world can Island’s actions be considered “cowardly?”

Newsflash: Words have actual meanings. Engaging in dangerous conflict when the odds are against you and the risk of failure is very high — that is the very opposite of cowardice. That’s what Island did, and the world is now a slightly better place as a result.

If you want to see cowardice, look no further than the state-supported street gang known as the police. They’re the ones who eagerly confront people who are often only minding their own business, threatening them with violence and/or arrest over victimless “crimes.” (“Just following orders” is no excuse. If a law is wrong, then enforcing it is wrong. Simple as that.) And the pigs KNOW that in almost every situation the odds are on their side due to superior numbers, body armor, availability of backup, or just the blessing of the government.

It’s very easy to be a “tough guy” when you know that almost everyone is afraid to resist you with significant force, lest they find themselves quickly outnumbered or being hunted by an army. But every now and then the cowardly pigs run into someone who has balls of titanium alloy and is willing to take those odds.

  2. “… allegedly drew his weapon and shot Dorman seven times.”
“He is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.”

    IF true, that sucks.

It only took FOUR shots to kill Tupac.
