The Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), headed up by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, has begun a campaign called “Demand a Plan to End Gun Violence”. The website states that “more than 800 mayors and 800,000 grassroots supporters demand that President Obama and Congress step forward with a plan to end gun violence.”
As a member of the coercive network called MAIG, Bloomberg is one of 750 mayors across the nation that would like to see massive restriction of the 2nd Amendment under “commonsense reforms”. Bloomberg has contributed considerable financial donations to MAIG, along with the Joyce Foundation, a globalist Chicago-based non-profit organization started by Valerie Jarrett and Barack Obama.
The Demand a Plan website claims that grassroots efforts are assisting the MAIG in their efforts. Yet, no mention of who these grassroots organizations are is stated for public review. What is clear is that with corporate funding and monetary backing from members of the Obama administration through the Joyce Foundation, MAIG is a self-serving prophecy.
The demands of this campaign are:
• Criminal background checks on all guns sold in the US
• Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines
• Make gun trafficking a federal crime
The MAIG offer a petition to be signed that would alert Obama and Congress of citizen support for gun control. They also will take down your personal data in order to determine your congressional representative and call you with the information.
Using celebrities like Beyonce, Reese Witherspoon, Jamie Foxx and Jessica Alba to propagandize to Americans, the MAIG demands that US citizens ban together because “enough is enough” and that before more children are killed, more shooting happen at malls and theaters, we must have restrictive gun legislation in place otherwise the dead will keep piling up.
Last week, Bloomberg released a statement regarding the National Rifle Association (NRA) press conference on the Sandy Hook shooting and gun control. Wayne LaPierre, the NRA’s top lobbyist, said: “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” LaPierre went on to say: “In a race to the bottom, many conglomerates compete with one another to shock, violate, and offend every standard of civilized society, by bringing an even more toxic mix of reckless behavior and criminal cruelty right into our homes.”
Bloomberg’s response was: “Their press conference was a shameful evasion of the crisis facing our country. Instead of offering solutions to a problem they have helped create, they offered a paranoid, dystopian vision of a more dangerous and violent America where everyone is armed and no place is safe.”
The blame for gun violence, according to Bloomberg, belongs to the NRA lobbyists because “they promote armed guards, they continue to oppose the most basic and common sense steps we can take to save lives – not only in schools, but in our movie theaters, malls, and streets.” Ironically, Bloomberg claims that “we must rise above special interest politics” (disregarding the MAIG as a special interest group) and vehemently declares 34 Americans are killed daily due to gun-related violence.
Since Bloomberg’s numbers on gun-related violence reflects data compiled on total firearm homicides, and does not take into account that the majority of those deaths are gang-related, and committed by violent offenders, there cannot be a blanket statement promoting restriction of guns for average citizens.
In fact, in a recent coercive gun buy-back initiative in San Francisco and Oakland, California, it was law-abiding citizens that handed over their guns to local police departments for $200, not local criminals.
The popularity of gun-free zones as a way to combat gun-related violence would give criminals sections of the country where they know they will be able to commit crimes without much resistance from locals and residents. This initiative only serves to disarm law-abiding citizens. In respect to shifting the psychological temperament of our Constitutional Republic from its foundations to accept more and more Socialism rife with Communist-overtones, this mentality fits the bill.
In Minnesota, Governor Mark Dayton claims that the 2nd Amendment encumbers his state from controlling their citizens with regard to implementing stricter gun control laws. Dayton said: “At this point, I don’t think we have an option under the Second Amendment to do what some people are advocating. There’s a limit on what society can do to protect people from their own follies.”
The Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence rated Minnesota as failing when it comes to gun control. Dayton would like to see federal governmental restrictions on the 2nd Amendment assist his state in getting into good favor with the anti-gun foundation.
Last week, speaking at the James Brady White House briefing Room, President Obama declared a new Gun Control Task Force (GCTF) headed by Vice President Joe Biden to focus Washington legislatures on studies, research, and proposals proving that the federal government must step in to curb American fascination with violence by rendering the 2nd Amendment useless. This can be accomplished with the complete restriction of the 2nd Amendment, government-controlled mental health services and governmental oversight of violence in social culture.
Bloomberg spoke with Biden after Obama’s declaration was made to “offer [his] full support” for the GCTF. Biden has a long history, as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, of assisting in the establishment of laws forcing background checks on firearms purchases as well as promoting legislative bans on semi-automatic gun and high-capacity magazines for sale to average Americans.
Senator Bob Casey, once long-time opposed to new gun laws, is now saying that he “would support bills to ban assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips.” House Speaker John Boehnerstated that he would “take under advisement” the recommendations of the GCTF.
Senator Dianne Feinstein said just after the Sandy Hook shooting that “the president will soon have legislation ‘to lead on’ in the gun control debate.” Feinstein is heading the march against the 2nd Amendment with the introduction of a bill into Congress in January of 2013. This document is just now being drafted with a proposal for the US House of Representatives.
Feinstein explains the bill “will ban the sale, the transfer, the importation, and the possession. Not retroactively, but prospectively. It will ban the same for big clips, drums or strips of more than 10 bullets. There will be a bill.”
