Gun crime has almost doubled since Labour came to power as a culture of extreme gang violence has taken hold.
The latest Government figures show that the total number of firearm offences in England and Wales has increased from 5,209 in 1998/99 to 9,865 last year – a rise of 89 per cent.In some parts of the country, the number of offences has increased more than five-fold.
In eighteen police areas, gun crime at least doubled.
The statistic will fuel fears that the police are struggling to contain gang-related violence, in which the carrying of a firearm has become increasingly common place.
Meanwhile, in the United States where gun ownership and concealed carry are extremely common, violent crime rates are falling.
Ohhhhh, BUGGAR!!!

Don’t even look at crime stats unless they’re also coupled with employment stats.
It has nothing to do with guns, or any politicians policy of “getting tough on crime.” When people have jobs, crime disappears, and it has very little to do with what any politician does. Hiring a million cops to haunt the streets only moved crime indoors.
89% of British “gun crime” = 0.001% of US same.
That said, 99.999% of “gun crime” is committed by the British and US governments so their hypocrisy in this matter is truly outstanding.
I wonder what percent of US gun deaths is bangers killing each other and doing the country a favor? Too bad these morons don’t even know how to hold a handgun properly, if they did they might kill more of each other and fewer innocents.
This is proof positive that the (divine) right of the people to keep and bear arms is the best defence against armed criminals AND tyrannical government. No cop will save you when the crims are looking at you down their barrels (particularly the criminals IN uniform). American people don’t let yourselves be neutered like the Australian or UK livestock have. I got a feeling we Aussie’s are going to seriously regret being so “laid back” – asleep at the wheel more like it. Dictator’s always round up the guns using tried and true methods of deception to achieve it.
Anyone whose done a modicum of research on the subject of gun control knows it always results in massive, wide scale death on the docile and disarmed population. There’s a massive round up of guns going on here (in Oz) at the moment, with two legal armories in the area having been raided and looted by the cops in the last month in a not-so secret gun grab operation. 30 cops raided one old man with a legitimate and legal firearms business with the dubious excuse of paperwork infractions. They looted and stole (sorry, “seized”) 1400 guns – all of them, his whole collection and stock (including some very expensive antique guns), along with four tonnes of ammo. The same corporate takeover gang has also raided the legal armory in town and looted him as well.
Interestingly, we’ve also had statewide local reserve army units training for at least the last year to search civilian vehicles for firearms and other contraband under civil/police supervision. Australia calls it “defence aid to the civil power”. We don’t have Posse Comitatus like the US, and our troops can be deployed against the people with a bit of word magic and propaganda using our version of martial law – the “state of emergency”. It’s great though that so many locals are talking about it – I’m sure the cops and defence would prefer that their drones in uniform didn’t have such big mouths, but evidently they do.
The anti-gun propaganda from the corporate media has been relentless here too since the massacre, and we’ve just had several convenient shootings occur in Oz – including yet another two highly suspect ‘night time drive by’ shootings last night in western Sydney that always seem to come along whenever fear needs mongering for political purposes. So easy to pay off some stooge to pop a couple of rounds into an unsuspecting family home in a quiet suburban street in the middle of the night, then spray it all over the media the next day as evidence of gun crime and relentless pursuit of more dictatorial gun control measures. This has been a major establishment tactic in western Sydney for a couple of years now. It’s always an ‘anonymous night time drive by shooting’ coupled with a blatant anti-gun media campaign to “crack down on criminal gangs” and “get guns off the streets”. hmmmm, nothing suss there…no pattern to see here folks, it’s all them “criminal gangs” or “bikie gangs” with their “illegal guns” you’ve got to be aaaafraaaaaid of! BEEEE AFRAAAAAID!
Anyway, this is to be expected for letting ourselves go to sleep on the job. Australia is thoroughly disarmed now, and generally far to cowed to offer much resistance when the guns are turned on us. I’m counting on the system coming down from within. Not all cops are irredeemable sociopaths or psychopaths – conscience will be the kicker and the tide is turning.

Unfortunately for us here in Amerika, I would venture to guess that is NOT true for at least 90% of our jack-booted thugs – and that’s probably a conservative estimate.
When in the past gun law were liberal in Australia, you hardly heard of a drive by shooting or people being shot. No report in the media then!
Now that we are PROUDLY GUN FREE you do have every day report of shooting! Mr Howard & Mr Bizley you didn’t do your job properly. You forgot to take the GUNS from the CRIMINALS. Or is it what you were aiming for?
