Gun manufacturer bill fires a blank

Biz Journals – by James Jeffrey

A Senate bill to provide economic development incentives for Texas firearm manufacturers failed to pass, despite Gov. Rick Perry throwing his weight behind Texas becoming a refuge for such businesses affected by gun-control efforts in other states.

Senate Bill 1467, authored by State Sen. Craig Estes, R-Wichita Falls, would have also provided incentives to firearms accessories and ammunition manufacturers.

Supporters argued it would help Texas remain a state open to business, committed to free market principles and supportive of its citizens’ constitutional rights.

Perry has made continued efforts to accommodate gun manufacturers and entice them to Texas . He even uploaded a video to YouTube that shows a firearms retailer extolling the virtues of moving his business from California to Texas.

Despite the failure of SB 1467 and other gun-related bills this session, a number of gun makers are moving or considering moving to Texas in the wake of efforts in other states to regulate gun ownership.

Rifle manufacturer Colt Competition recently announced a move from Oregon to Texas to open a new facility in Brackenridge. And both Maryland-based gun maker Beretta and Colorado’s gun magazine manufacturer Magpul Inc. have reportedly indicated they might move to Texas.

  1. Good! I’m glad the bastard is firing blanks. It’s called Perry helping the elite put all of their oppositional eggs in one basket or one state and then Illegal Mexicans and UN forces come in and BAM! Game over.

I’m not falling for it. If gun manufacturers were true patriots they would stand up for their rights in the states that they are in and stand up for the people themselves. Fleeing to other states only allows the elite to tighten their grip on the people and to consolidate them in one area or state so they can make a final assault on our rights.

I have a feeling that in the future, there will be another Alamo-like scenario in Texas in which it will be WE the people against the U.N. forces and this time WE the people better win!

It’s time we stop letting the elite push us out and we start pushing them out!

    1. I’m from Texas. I think we’ve seen enough govt “incentives” at all levels. This is the same Perry that took cash from big pharma to hoist Gardisil, the toxic vaccine, on our kids. You wanna do something for Texas Rick? Seal our borders and chuck Obamacare.

  2. Good comment on the Elitists—–Push back & hard, EXPOSE THEM! For instance why do you think David Rockefeller ( D-WV), second richest family in the world, is Head of nearly all the congressional Finance committees? Get the picture-EXPOSE- Or why is Deputy Secretary of the Treasury David S. Cohen in charge of terrorist funding? See, it’s easy, get moving, NOW! Liberty & Freedom are the Goal
