Horrible Out-Of-Touch Tips For Poor People

Published on Jul 17, 2014 by The Young Turks

“Bill O’Reilly tells poor Americans they should always have savings of at least $25,000 in a rainy-day fund. How should they accumulate said $25,000? He instructs his audience to “never waste money… see what your vices are, and cutback… never pay full price… every time you have loose change in your pocket, put it in a big jar, that’ll add up fast… and out of every dollar you make, save 10 cents.”* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

  1. Gee Bill great advice why just last week I got a whole 3.00 on your advice but my garbage collection bill went up and they want 2.20 for a can a month. I guess I will have to try harder. I did give up going out to eat at CCs Pizza and saved a whopping 6.00 but then I needed milk and that was almost 5.00 a gal.

This plan of yours isnt working very well at all. How bout sharing some of that 20 mil you get, I bet you dont have to scrimp or do without eh?

    Not a happy camper

  2. Yeah I would REALLY like Bill to tell me how to not “waste” money. We bring in 200K/year and have 0 savings. We have 3 kids and a mortgage on an older, modest home, 1 running car and normal bills. We don’t even have cable tv, or tv at all for that matter. We don’t go to the movies or out to eat. I have no idea how my neighbors who are factory workers are surviving. We were both raised poor and my mother pinched a penny so hard it could have melted down. I picked this up from her. Our oldest works to help pay for himself and has student loans that aren’t due yet. Seriously, in this new “economy” how do we NOT “waste” money.

    1. I bring in 10,284.00 a year now that is a hard place to be. Thankfully I have a paid up home. There is much I do not have, but then I am 75 and need very little.
