Patriot Broadcast From the Trenches Schedule

How Will They Confiscate Your Guns?

Keep and Bear Arms – by John Sutter in California

For decades I have heard gun owners claim that the government would never be able to confiscate our firearms because the government would lose too many men.  The implication being, of course, that gun owners would actively resist confiscation, even to the point of shooting back.  But I believe this thinking is outdated and doesn’t align very well with reality.  But before you tell me how big your honor guard in Hell will be when that day comes, let’s think about how the government could really do it.

Suppose, for the sake of argument, the government bans all civilian possession of firearms at the end of this month.  Congress passes a total ban and the President cuts his own re-election throat by signing it.  Gun owners get some grace period to turn them in, even beyond the deadline, without being charged with a crime.  If we use Australia and Britain as examples there will still be a significant number of firearms that are not turned in.  Some estimates put the Australian turn-in at less than 25% and the British faired only about 28%.  But Australians and the British have long been used to obeying almost every gun control law. Not so the Americans. When laws are passed that we don’t like, we bite. We scratch. We vote.  So here we sit after the guns have been collected and the amnesties have run out.  Now what?  Send out the personnel carriers, swat and shock troops to seize the guns from those militia “terrorists” who refused to turn them in?  Don’t be silly.

The government has lots of records about you. If you purchased a firearm since 1968, chances are that they have some record of it somewhere.  Most likely, it will take quite some time for them to compile all the serial numbers of “surrendered” guns (surrendered essentially at gunpoint) and cross off the ones you turned in.  It’ll take more time for them to attempt to “clean up” their data.  Say, about two years, maybe three. Add to that the hordes of people keypunching in hundreds of thousands of sales and registration records from hundreds of gun stores forced out of business.  At some point the government decides they have something approaching a “good” database of unaccounted-for guns.

The next thing you’ll get from the government is an official looking notice that they think you still have a firearm. Their information will probably include all the information from registration forms, right down to the serial number.  That notice will tell you that you’re in violation of the law, subject to prosecution and imprisonment.  It will give you some period of time to surrender the gun.  It will also give you a very limited number of days to return the form with an explanation of why you don’t have the gun, any proof you have, and your signature that the gun was lawfully disposed of.  For many people the idea that the government “knows” they didn’t turn in that pistol or rifle and they have the detailed information about it will be enough to get them to surrender the gun. Some people will ignore the letter, others will scrawl a note that “I sold this in 1982 in a private sale”. After some time, the government will figure out how many guns are still out there and what the “compliance rate” is with the gun ban.  More importantly, they’ll start sorting their database by the number of guns someone supposedly has “unaccounted”.

If you think they’ll come at these multiple-gun owners with a swat team, guess again.  Their most likely tactic will be yet another letter (maybe two more) that generate what they’ll call “insufficient responses”.  That means they can’t track a gun after you owned it.  This they’ll use as fodder for a search warrant and/or perjury charges at a later date if they can.  My guess is that the time between April and August will be a bad time for a lot of “former” gun owners. Remember that the BATF is an arm of the Treasury department and they control the IRS. You’ll probably get a notice in the mail that the IRS has some questions about your taxes or wants to audit you. When you make the appointment to visit the IRS they will pass that information to the BATF.  While you are sweating over your deductions, the BATF and local police will execute a search warrant and search your home looking for guns.  With you safely off site and distracted, essentially forced into “the royal presence” of the IRS they will snag your guns.  Expect them to use slow-scan and ground penetrating radar to search walls, yards, under the patio or deck, the basement, etc.  You might even find your hot tub has been drained and moved.  Yes, they’ll search your car in the IRS parking lot too.

If you are one of the those people they suspect of having multiple guns and they don’t find any guns at your home, expect them to find and search storage facilities, safety deposit boxes and other places you might use. Warn your relatives who live nearby that they can expect a visit too, even (or perhaps especially) if they never owned a gun. If they are thorough, I’d expect the government agents to check your neighbors to see which of them previously owned a gun and perhaps search their homes, arguing that your neighbor could have held  your guns while agents searched your home. Remember that at this point the government authorities don’t have much to fear from the general population. And by the time your complaints are run through the mill, rejected and turned into lawsuits, they’ll have changed the rules.

But you only have one gun you say?  Fine. They won’t come looking for it. But they will make sure that possession of ammunition is also a serious crime. Don’t leave any loose cartridges around and where will you hide that case of ammo you rushed out to buy? Expect any “gun parts” to be made illegal at some point in time too. Spare magazines, maybe even old cleaning kits. Anything that says “gun” will be interpreted as “probable cause” to search your entire home.  Also expect that you can never use that gun without becoming a serious felon in the eyes of the government.  Even if some thug has repeatedly stabbed you with a large knife and threatened to rape your six year old daughter, they won’t forgive you for having the gun.  They may even give you extra penalties for using it to save your family.  Especially if you are one of the first few hundred people caught this way, they will use you to “set an example”.  This will cause people to “bury” their guns away in hiding places, making them all but useless.  If the government does come to confiscate it, you won’t be able to get to it fast enough and they will probably find it.

You’ve moved several times since you bought a gun?  Remember showing your ID when you bought a gun? Remember writing down your place of birth?  Why do you think the government has so many computers?  Linking you to your new driver’s license in another state shouldn’t be too hard. Besides, the Treasury folks know where you work. Think you’re safe because you had unregistered guns?  Think again. I would expect that the government’s database will contain a lot of old data.  Some of it might indicate that a gun was sold to a resident at your address.  If they can tie you to ammo sales or range use with your credit card in the previous 2 years you might get a surprise visit.  Or that seller might have remembered you bought that gun from him and filled out his gun notice to get “off the hook” for that gun.

The point of this article is that by thinking in limited terms of a “raid” to confiscate guns we lose sight of the alternative methods the government can use. Put yourself in the government’s position and think of your own methods to avoid a conflict.  Meanwhile, let’s ensure that every gun owner votes for gun rights this year and the next. You can think of a thousand excuses not to vote, not to help a campaign, not to help another gun owner register to vote. I can think of one important reason to do all of those.

  1. Jolly Roger says:

I think the author is correct in his predictions about how they would go about confiscating guns, but I also think they won’t get as far as he’s imagined.
They don’t have enough time to carry out the process outlined here, and he doesn’t seem to realize how many people have already had enough of these traitors, gun confiscations or not.
His predictions don’t take into account the anger that already exists, or the fact that it’s continually growing. The combination of being broke, angry, and betrayed doesn’t exactly make for a happy population. I think there are a lot of people out there who would love to start shooting at them right now, and aren’t really concerned with any “gun bans”.

    • H5mind says:

It is only the man who has something he feels he cannot risk losing who can be effectively controlled. The other kind can only be killed.

Or, as Gerald Celente likes to say. “When people have nothing left to lose, they lose it.”

  2. TranceAm says:

If everything else stood still his scenario might work.

However, as Jolly states: “His predictions don’t take into account the anger that already exists, or the fact that it’s continually growing. The combination of being broke, angry, and betrayed doesn’t exactly make for a happy population.”

Not to mention the unconstitutionality of it all, and people realizing they are not Europeans, but Americans and that came with certain unalienable Rights not liberally approved permissions.

  3. Paraclete says:

    I agree with Jolly Roger.
The writer of the article is giving the usurper regime too much intelligence.
Further more, the American public will not be so patient, nor tolerant.
Sure they’ll try and intimidate all who resist their evil desires…….
But, this will QUICKLY escalate into “Total Resistance”, and soon.
In my neck of the woods, EVERYONE, is preparing for the coming days.
EVERYTHING is flying off the shelves.
American Patriotism IS alive and well.
Sure, there will be those who will fall to intimidation, but the vast majority of folks, will strike this evil down !

    “COME AND TAKE IT !”

  4. Rachel says:

Would never work, would take far too long, too much resources and still spark a civil war. An all out ban on guns would anger the american people to the point of no return and they shooting would start regardless. They will atttempt to either ban certain types of weapons a little at a time OR they are using the gun debate as a distraction from real issues like the economic collapse and illegal wars. I think it’s more show that anything else, to scare people and create a debate to keep the American eyes off other issues.

    • NC says:

I’ve been thinking that same thing lately, Rachel. As I always say, “A warrior who only knows one side, leaves himself open for destruction.” We can’t always be too focused on just the gun issue. There are other issues at stake as well and deserve just as much attention as this. Otherwise, we will be blindsided.

  5. Sunfire says:

“You can think of a thousand excuses not to vote, not to help a campaign, not to help another gun owner register to vote. I can think of one important reason to do all of those.”

Hahahaha! If the author believes that voting will help change anything, he is seriously delusional. We have all seen indisputable evidence that the “elections” are nothing but a complete fraud. Besides, dictators don’t care what the will of the people is, they simply dictate.

    • BentSpear says:

Voting sh!t stopped long ago. A crack pipe dream at the least.

    • NC says:

Haha! I know. After reading that part, I was thinking that same exact thing. Who the hell believes in voting anymore? This guy sounded good but then just slapped himself in the face at the end.

  6. H5mind says:

The truth is the government has already banned many types of firearms and the NRA did nothing to stop it. The feds would have to be brain dead not to have infiltrated the higher echelons of the NRA and other pro-gun groups. This was an inside job.

Remember, the idea is not necessarily to disarm Americans, but to make sure we’re at a strategic disadvantage with inferior weapons. This is already the case. The Second Amendment was meant specifically to keep citizens armed on par with government forces. Even police now have drones, tanks, attack copters, and all sort of exotic weapons systems which are illegal for commoners to own.

Better than bold taunts to “Come and get ‘em!”, we should befriend as many as our better-armed fellow citizens as possible, “keeping our friends close, and our enemies closer”. Most polls show American soldiers would not fire on fellow citizens if given the order, so the likely assailants would probably be UN forces carrying out an Agenda 21 type ban in the aftermath of some manufactured disaster.

Regardless, studying the tactics of asymmetrical warfare would not be a bad idea, should push come to shove.

    • chris says:

Ambush, and harassment type tactics work best against attrition warfare tactics.

Their downfall is the over reliance on attrition warfare (sling as many munitions as they can at what they want to kill) and force multiplying technology.

It takes dozens of them to react to one shooter with an rifle.

They rely heavily on swarm tactics and the psychological effect, but quickly fold if they are surprised and don’t get the back up they need.

I’m sure everyone’s already ahead of the curb on this but a good book to start with is
The Tiger’s Way: A U.S. Private’s Best Chance for Survival

or anything by H. John Poole

  7. spirittoo says:

The government will NOT get my guns … PERIOD … Only the sheeples will do so … like OZ and GB only 25%-28% will turn in their guns.

Perhaps if they do something like what the author suggested it will be the breaking point for enough real Americans to do something about it. Start walking like Icelanders …

  8. Miguel Grande says:

Obama has seen his last fraudulent election. Millions are loading up on weapons and ammo to protect themselves from evil not to capitulate.

  9. Big Jay says:

If this scenario does happen, the one about the IRS issuing summons for an “audit” to ensure an empty house…DON’T GO!
No one is under obligation to obey an IRS summons. It works for the IRS because most people are intimidated by anything the IRS sends.
Do research on the subject. There is a bunch of stuff on the Internet about this.

  10. Rebel420 says:

Not sure voting is going to help. Do you really think California voted not to label GMOs? Not to mention what happened to Dr. Paul. This government is fraudulent and illegitimate.

    • chris says:

I submitted this not because of the voting rhetoric but because the author poses a very interesting scenario and I was hoping that this would start a good conversation about other likely scenarios.

I know the grabbers are working against the clock just never hurts to consider all possibilities.

  11. tom says:

how will they get your gun….money…1000 for a old gun….5000 for a assault rifle…who can resist, when they will be controlling the food and who buys it,by that time.

  12. Large Scale Aggressor says:

I’m not sure how many foreign troops will be willing to come to America to die for the US government. Especially if it gets known that the American patriots tend to get a little barbaric with captured foreign enemies.

  13. Smilardog says:

For one thing… this author is talking over a period of years. This economy does not have years left in it before total collapse world wide. We all have different ideas of how that will pan out. In my mind, it will be loot’in and shoot’in, and pillaging and plunder.

Expect trucking to stop, food shortages, power outages, lack of sewer and water to homes and businesses, from workers not showing up because of lack of paychecks and to stay home to protect their families.

Most police and fire would stay with their families. Unless, of course… they told for all of their families to show up at certain places for their safety while they performed their duties. but, in reality they will be holding their families hostage to make them do as they are told.

Internet and cellphone would be shut down by the gov. Then in retaliation, all police, fire, emergency electronic communications towers and what ever else could be easy shot at from a distance would be taken out. Including stop light cameras and any other gov surveillance crap that can be found. And drones have to take off, land, and be controlled from somewhere.

I could go on and on. But, I have yet to meet anyone who is going to turn in anything to anyone. By the time it get this far a lot of hungry angry homeless Patriots will be looking for the cause of it all. Woe, to the powers that be!!!

Feel free to add to this senario

    • chris says:

If they go the route of kicking in doors they will hit what they assume to be easy targets first, at least that’s the way I always figured it would happen.

The person(s) they decide to hit will have been profiled, surveilled, and probably wont be associated with any militia.

They will show up with overwhelming force and hit hard, their pre-chosen targets they assume have a high probability of not resisting.

Just trying to keep the conversation going, so others hopefully add to it.

      • Smilardog says:

Yes, I agree. We should keep this conversation going. Everyday, a thousand times a day, these scenarios of how it’s going to go down go through my head. I would love to hear what everyone else thinks, also.

That’s why I like listening to Henry when he talks about this stuff. Except, I disagree with him on his estimate of how many will choose to fight. He estimates 40 Million. I have never heard him say, why he uses that figure. Henry… want to chime in here??? hehe

I think that we need to figure in all the people who will help along the way. They will be many old vets, old Patriots, people who will put our fighting men up for a place to sleep, eat, and re-suppy. Many will be the eyes and ears. There will be many working for the enemy who will be on our side. We need to count them all. An Army has many positions to fill and they must all be counted. During the day… an average looking compliant citizen, but at night they become many different vital assets to the cause.

        • BentSpear says:

Assess your area. Did mine several years ago & quarterly updates since. Out of 84 residences, not counting mine, I found only 2 people. Half of the 84 residences would gladly comply with anything the government would offer. The other half either have serious legal problems that precludes their active participation while the other is of the Monday Night Wrestling & Beer crowd. Most Vets will help, but are of the physical nature which would hinder field OPs.

You think of it every day? Situational awareness is a every minute job.

        • chris says:

          agreed

start taking a serious inventory of those around you.

          Who’s just a prepper?

Who’s more than just a prepper?

          Tough decisions are coming.

          • BentSpear says:

Unfortunately, while assessing, take note of those who WILL be your enemies. Do it proper; don’t be looking for settling “Feuds”. I have some who are azzholes, but would be assets during a scrap. “Preppers” & active “Militia” are two different cards. Another is Looters & “Color of Authority” criminals. One needs to mark these potential threats now or be fully aware of their local location.

  14. Birdshot says:

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” — Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn

  15. H5mind says:

Having lived overseas in what many would call a ‘banana republic’, I can share some insight into what a post-crash America may look like. Regular food shortages, naturally, as modern supermarkets operate on a three day delivery schedule. Inability to purchase replacement parts, tools, and materials needed to maintain pretty much anything. Much, much higher prices for basic staples. Regular power outages. Bridges and highways literally becoming impassable due to neglect and deterioration. Water rationing (during the dry season water would only run for an hour in the am and one hour at night). Non-potable water, at that.

Inability to find the simplest things, like a good razor, decent shoes, or even a tooth brush. Hygiene becomes a challenge.

Escalating crimes rates, particularly random violent attacks such as kidnapping, mugging, and pick pocketing. Due to lack of police resources, most crimes are rarely investigated. The police themselves are sometimes the perpetrators.

Where I lived in Venezuela, thanks to a handful of government rats who fled with the bulk of the nation’s wealth prior to “the crash”, the currency quickly lost most of its purchasing power. It is so bad their money literally cannot be exchanged beyond their borders- it’s worthless. Wire transfers are illegal, as are accounts in foreign currncy. Expect the same to happen with the US dollar at some point.

The upside? Since they have so little wealth, people truly appreciate family, friends, and good times. They enjoy music, sports, and good conversation. In other words, life goes on, albeit on a simpler scale.

Most Third World nations used to be prosperous, stable, and highly developed, but thanks to US and/or European hegemony and resource grabbing, became a shadow of their former glory. It’s interesting to note that none of the citizens I met in those countries ever thought that things would get so bad- the “Never Happen Here” syndrome. As you folks know, most Americans suffer from the same delusion, which is why so few will be prepared, and so many caught unawares when “it” happens.

  16. Incriminally Sane says:

The government does NOT have a lot of time to work here and this confiscation must be done as quickly as possible with the economy being prepared to crash, the coming global war and the constant natural disasters they claim to deal with, face it, they don’t have time. What they may do is have guns “registered” and then simply send in teams of thugs to just confiscate them once they are admitted to be at your residence. In 1993 Bush SR put out a memorandum advising commanders to start training their troops to go door to door specifically to confiscate guns and all these wars provided a perfect training scenario for them to to just this. This is NOT something that happened overnight because of Sandy Hook, this has been planned for a VERY long time and they cannot afford to stop until they get the guns, it is a means of CONTROL and protection for the elite when the hammer finally falls because they know they can never have their global system of government until we are disarmed. So, DON’T give up your guns and they can NEVER have their New World Order!

  17. CXJ says:

History clearly demonstrates that at the beginning of a revolt the number of combatants is a very small number. Perhaps 1% up to 5% of the population step up to the plate. The number of Americans that will fight is impossible to predict. One can only hope and pray that when push comes to shove large numbers of Americans will push back and push back furiously.

With that said, FEAR is all the government has to control the American people and what I am witnessing is that a large number of people are no longer afraid or intimidated by federal force. The Drones, massive forces, UN Forces, Starvation Tactics, late night assaults on Americans, fabricated economic crisis are weapons in their tool box, but all of these choices depend on FEAR. I am not afraid. Millions of Americans are not afraid. Without population fear the federal government is a fangless tiger.

For the first time, since the 1960′s gun laws were put into effect, women are jumping into the fight. This is important ladies and gentlemen! The other half of the population is has entered the fight. This spells big trouble for the federal government. When the pillow talk focuses on hubby’s combat willingness war is right around the corner.

JR brings up a good point, however once this revolt ignites there is no extinguishing the conflagration. The Elitists “Think Tanks” have considered the possibility of an all out assault on the federal government. In recent weeks the media has launched trial balloons to estimate the resistance factor. There is no doubt that the CIA/NSA has told Barry Soetero that a rapid gun confiscation attempt by the government will result in a total defeat of government forces.

The underlying reason for such a strong resistance is that the FEAR factor is has evaporated. Barry and his handlers have painted themselves into a corner.

The present scenario begs the question what will the government do to get out of the their painted corner? As I see it they have a number of options.
Number one wait for the paint to dry. Number two come out swinging in attempt to reinstitute the “Institution of Fear.” Thirdly, Barry does nothing and concentrates on establishing federal power over the people by means of federally controlling every other aspect of American’s lives namely communications, economics, transportation etc. In short Barry may employ the old Tried and True “Anaconda Policy” of surround and suffocate the resistance. Their hope, as I said earlier, is that eventually FEAR of the government returns.

A number of people have said “They” are running out of time. That is a huge assumption that I wouldn’t want to wager. The “They Guys” have all of the time they need. I admit they are anxious to finish the Americans off, but it is entirely possible and probable that they will isolate the Americans and go about their “Globalization” if this gun fiasco proves to too dangerous for the New World Order.

So what is my prediction? Since I am not a prophet of God, I don’t know the future. However, I know for a fact that this sitting president is a coward, an unabashed liar, thief and perhaps a murderer (Benghazi). He is surely a psychopath. All of these character traits are the driving force behind all of his actions and if his handlers lose control of him and he gets off the leash he will attack without mercy all who resist him. He is motivated by FEAR and HATRED. All of the tyrants of the 20th Century suffered the same profile.

My prediction is he will “blink” and then attack. Tyrants have no other choice. His wife’s pillow talk, if they sleep in the same bed, is prodding him to destroy the American Culture. She is far more dangerous then her husband Barry Soetero.

Lock and Load and starting taking back the real estate this out of control government has stolen from us.

Don’t allow a calm disarm your anger and resolve. “PICK 7″ and Unite and Conquer. Good day.

  18. jespasinthru says:

U.N. troops on American soil? I doubt that very much. This isn’t Haiti. And this isn’t one of those dreary East European hellholes that have been steeped in tyranny and abject misery for centuries. When U.N. “peacekeepers” occupy most countries, they can abuse the citizenry with impunity and without consequences. But the United States is different, because of the Second Amendment. In fact, there are a lot of heavily armed people in this country who have spent generations preparing for just such an event.

  19. brad oneill says:

they dont have to confiscate them at all, they just make them illegal and if you are caught with one they tack on 10 or 20 years to your sentence. this of course saves absolutely no one from a wild shooter situation and leaves the population vulnerable and unable to defend themselves without facing prison like in England right now. no big seizure just a simple erosion of your rights.

  20. DanStlMo says:

They will not have time to search house to house, they will be to busy guarding the politicians, their own families, homes and Government buildings, not to mention infrastructure like water plants, electric grids, pipelines and communication systems and once a few of them lose their homes or their lives they will start to quit.

  21. ccorn says:

I think Brad ONeill is right. By executive order guns will be made illegal and anyone caught with one will have hefty fines etc. So no way your CHL will do you any good because you won’t be able to protect yourself or anyone else from a mass murderer or you will be criminalized yourself and your gun confiscated. The same thing if you ever (God forbid) have to use one in your home to protect your family. I don’t think all guns will be banned “at first”. I think all semi-automatic handguns and rifles will be though. I think they will leave revolvers and lever action type rifles and shotguns to try to appease the populace and perhaps (they are hoping) prevent an insurrection.

  22. CXJ says:

Bentspear you and two others totals 3. Thats 3.4% of the population out of your sampling of 84. There’s good news thats a higher percentage then those that first engaged the British on the 19th of April, 1775 at Lexington Green. 3% is good Bentspear very good. 3% equals approximately 3 million patriots who are more then likely sharp shooters. It will require 30 million government forcess to counter 3 million. Good luck Barky…
I noticed that Barky was real upset stepping off Air Force One the other day after his vacation in Hawaii. If he thinks he’s got problems now?! Lookout Barky!
