The D.C. Clothesline – by Dean Garrison
I feel a tremendous responsibility to write this article though I am a little apprehensive. Thinking about the possibility of rising up against our own government is a frightening thing for many of us. I am not Johnny Rambo and I will be the first to admit that I do not want to die. The reason I feel compelled to write this, however, is simply because I don’t think the average American is equipped with the facts. I feel that a lot of American citizens feel like they have no choice but to surrender their guns if the government comes for them. I blame traditional media sources for this mass brainwash and I carry the responsibility of all small independent bloggers to tell the truth. So my focus today is to lay out your constitutional rights as an American, and let you decide what to do with those rights.
About a month ago I let the “democracy” word slip in a discussion with a fellow blogger. I know better. Americans have been conditioned to use this term. It’s not an accurate term and it never has been a correct term to describe our form of government. The truth is that the United States of America is a constitutional republic. This is similar to a democracy because our representatives are selected by democratic elections, but ultimately our representatives are required to work within the framework of our constitution. In other words, even if 90% of Americans want something that goes against our founding principles, they have no right to call for a violation of constitutional rights.
If you are religious you might choose to think of it this way… Say that members of your congregation decide that mass fornication is a good thing. Do they have the right to change the teachings of your God? The truth is the truth. It doesn’t matter how many people try to stray from it. Did I just compare our founders to God? In a way I did, but please note that I am not trying to insult anyone. For the purpose of the American Government our constitution and founders who wrote it are much like God is to believers. It is the law. It is indisputable.
Our founders did not want a “democracy” for they feared a true democracy was just as dangerous as a monarchy. The founders were highly educated people who were experienced in defending themselves against tyranny. They understood that the constitution could protect the people by limiting the power of anyone to work outside of it much better than a pure system of popularity. A system of checks and balances was set up to help limit corruption of government and also the potential for an “immoral majority” developing within the American People. We have forgotten in this country that we are ultimately ruled by a constitution.
Why is a democracy potentially just as dangerous as a monarchy? Let’s look at something that Benjamin Franklin said because it answers that question more fully and succinctly than I can.
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. -Benjamin Franklin
Even 230+ years ago our founders were perceptive enough to realize that democracy was a dangerous form of government. How so? Because the citizens of a country can become just as corrupt as any government. We have seen evidence of this throughout history. Ask Native Americans and African-Americans if this population can become corrupt.
I think in 2012 we are seeing evidence of what Franklin was trying to tell us. Just because a majority of people may support certain ideas it does not mean that those ideas are just. In simple terms, just because most Americans love our president and voted for him, it does not mean that he has the power to go against our constitutional rights.
Next I’d like to review the text of the second amendment. It is very clear. This is the law of this land. So when Senator Feinstein or President Obama talk about taking your guns, you need to think about something. Are they honoring their sworn oath to uphold the constitution?
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
This is a pretty clear statement. The fact is that it took 232 years for the Supreme Court to even rule on this amendment because it has never been successfully challenged. In 2008 a case ofColumbia v. Heller the Supreme Court ruled that a handgun ban in Washington D.C. was unconstitutional. One also has to take this into consideration. The Supreme Court supports your right to own guns. If you want to research this decision further you can start here.
For those who try to debate the spirit of the 2nd amendment, they are truly no different from people who will try to take Biblical quotes out of context to try to support their immoral decisions. The founders were very clear on the intent of the 2nd amendment. Let me share a few quick quotes here:
The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. -Thomas Jefferson
Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good. -George Washington
The Constitution shall never be construed….to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms. -Samuel Adams
I could find hundreds of quotes like these. This country was built on the right to bear arms. It was built on the rights of an individual to bear arms, regardless of what his government or neighbor happened to think. This is crystal clear. Ironically the people who voice their opinions against this right have their free speech protected by your guns. Without guns in this country, all other amendments become null and void, simply because “We the People” will lose our power of enforcement.
We need to keep this in mind as our “representatives” try to push gun bans. I don’t care if 99% of people are in support of gun bans (which is far from the case), it is a violation of our constitutional rights, plain and simple.
A constitutional republic protects the rights of the individual even when their ideas are very much in the minority. If I were the only person in America who believed in the 2nd amendment, I would still be within my rights to call upon it. You would all think I was insane and possibly celebrate if I was gunned down, but in the end I would be the only true American among us.
Our framers were very clear on this. If my government comes to take my guns, they are violating one of my constitutional rights that is covered by the 2nd amendment.
It is not my right, at that point, but my responsibility to respond in the name of liberty. What I am telling you is something that many are trying to soft sell, and many others have tried to avoid putting into print, but I am going to say it. The time for speaking in code is over.
If they come for our guns then it is our constitutional right to put them six feet under. You have the right to kill any representative of this government who tries to tread on your liberty. I am thinking about self-defense and not talking about inciting a revolution. Re-read Jefferson’s quote. He talks about a “last resort.” I am not trying to start a Revolt, I am talking about self-defense. If the day for Revolution comes, when no peaceful options exist, we may have to talk about that as well. None of us wants to think about that, but please understand that a majority can not take away your rights as an American citizen. Only you can choose to give up your rights.
Congress could pass gun ban legislation by a 90%+ margin and it just would not matter. I think some people are very unclear on this. This is the reason we have a Supreme Court, and though I do not doubt that the Supreme Court can also become corrupt, in 2008 they got it right. They supported the constitution. It does not matter what the majority supports because America is not a democracy. A constitutional republic protects the rights of every single citizen, no matter what their “elected servants” say. A majority in America only matters when the constitution is not in play.
I just wrote what every believer in the constitution wants to say, and what every constitutional blogger needs to write. The truth of the matter is that this type of speech is viewed as dangerous and radical or subversive, and it could gain me a world of trouble that I do not want. It is also the truth. To make myself clear I will tell you again. If they come for your guns it is your right to use those guns against them and to kill them. You are protected by our constitution.
Most of the articles I am reading on the subject are trying to give you clues without just coming out and saying it. I understand that because certain things in this country will get you on a list that you don’t want to be on. I may well be on that list. This blog is small and growing so I may not be there yet, but I have dreams. I also have my own list of subversives and anyone who attempts to deny my constitutional rights is on that list.
I am not the “subversive” here, it is the political representatives who are threatening to take away my inalienable rights. If they come to take my guns and I leave a few of them wounded or dead, and I somehow survive, I have zero doubt that I will spend a long time in prison and may face an execution. But I would much rather be a political prisoner than a slave.
If I go down fighting then I was not fighting to harm these human beings. I was simply defending my liberty and yours. It is self-defense and it is what our country was built on. We won our freedom in self-defense. We would not be ruled by a tyrannical government in the 1770′s and we will not be ruled in 2012 by a tyrannical government. There is no difference.
This is a case of right and wrong. As of now the 2nd amendment stands. It has never been repealed. If Feinstein or Barack have a problem with the constitution then they should be removed from office. They are not defending the constitution which they have sworn an oath to protect. It is treasonous to say the least. They would likely say the same about me, but I have the constitution, the founders, and the supreme court on my side. They only have their inflated egos.
I am not writing this to incite people. I am writing this in hopes that somehow I can make a tiny difference. I have no idea how many of my neighbors have the will to defend their constitutional rights. 2%? 20%? I am afraid that 20% is a high number, unfortunately. When push comes to shove many people may give up and submit to being ruled. I believe that our government is banking on this.
What I do know is that this country was founded by people who had balls the size of Texas and Patriotic Americans take shit off of no one, especially our own government. For evidence of that, you might research the Revolutionary War. My question is how many Patriots are left?
I would hope that our officials come to realize that, regardless of our numbers, we still exist because they are calling Patriotic Americans to action. They are making us decide if we want to die free or submit to their rule. I can not tell you where you should stand on that. I do know that it may make the difference between living a life of freedom or slavery.
You must start thinking about this because I believe that the day is coming soon and I personally believe it has already been planned. Not all conspiracy theories are hogwash. They may throw down the gauntlet soon and my suggestion is that you prepare yourself to react.
I mean no disrespect to our elected officials but they need to understand that “We the People” will not be disarmed. If they proceed then it is they that are provoking us and we will act accordingly. We are within our rights to do so.
For those who are in support of taking the guns, you need to ask yourself a very important question, and I am not just talking about the politicians, because if you support them, you have chosen your side.
Are you willing to die to take my guns?

Are you willing to die to take my guns?
I hope all you feds that are reading this right now begin seriously asking yourselves this question.
Great writing and I am with you. We are now grandparents who only want to work and live in peace as we always have. We want a free and peaceful world for our grandkids and we are willing to fight and die if that is what it will take. I read somewhere that only 3 percent of the population took part in fighting the British but we kicked their asses and we can do the same here. No sane person wants war but no sane person will willingly give up all their rights and means of protection. That takes a fool and a coward. If we give up our means of protection we give them the right to gun us down. Good work and stand tall. Remember we are the people of “We the people” and they can only legally do what the ‘governed’ give them permission to do. We are the governed and we are still the boss. Once they break their oath, which is a contract, then they no longer have authority and become traitors and criminals. We know what to do with that sort.
I have a hunch that it would not take very many committed resisters to wake up the other side, whose current argument becomes rather absurd when they have to advocate multiple armed raids on houses containing innocent kids, just to grab guns that were previously held legally.
Grabbers being the way they tend to be, is an advantage for the second amendment side, they simply need to change their rhetoric. They don’t stand to lose anything but an argument, and get some reassuring pat on the head from an authority figure.
Heck, a sign on a rural driveway reading:
We follow The Constitution here.
Any attempt to violate our Constitutional Rights
will result in the swift violation of yours.
Might even be an effective deterrent.
The problem here tends to be that the politically immature and naive statist would like nothing better than for the government to “remove” those they think they disagree with politically. So one can almost see a case of LEOs having cold feet but the statists pressuring them to confiscate. The oathkeeper LEO could probably even return from the house in a vehicle saying “Okay, the place is clean, there are no weapons…” and the statists would simply believe them.
Little do they realize they’re being employed by a bigger agenda as useful idiots.
Oh, Don’t you just love that outdated document, with its outdated ideas of a Freedom of Speech..
The founding fathers were smart enough to learn from history, and apply what they learned about humans, tiran’s, and their always the same methods, to achieve the same goals.
They know that the bad guys or people with bad intend would come for the arms needed to forcefully resist them first, and then for the freedom to object.. They can’t take the freedom away to object, without removing the Arms… The only thing they have are Tranquilizers, IQ Lowering chemicals and hypnosis on a grande scale.
The only thing the Founding Fathers had was writing, The Internet gave them speech. And Americans can volunteer to read it.
I think your 20% is going to be 95%…
Remember what they said about uniting people, is give them a common enemy…. The strategy from them was, splitting you up in small fragments as in divide and conquer.
BTW, A President, that can’t or won’t show his or her eligibility to any other American voluntary on request , like any other American seems to have to do on Request by an Employer? Do you think he and of the rest of them Politicians covering for him have got something to hide?
As they said, anyone can claim any and everything…. It comes down to the proof they can bring fore to substantiate the claim.
Now, for the not gun enthusiasts out there. (I wonder why Keith Olberman had to go, I would have loved some rant from him on this subject of the 2nd and Obama’s Cult.) A gun is a hundreds of years old idea, of machinery, that is the latest improvement on the in general much older idea of throwing stones. The technology in it to deliver mass at a distance is so perfected, and tuned, that they are like Race Cars.. Formula 1, or Daytona500… The best one, for the money one can spare The Shooting part isn’t that important, unless you have other sports like skeet, hunting, or sport target shooting.
See the guns aren’t that important to the government, they know that crime will go up, people will die, and Illegal weapons will be around… Its like you switch the light on, and the light goes on.
They are in it for the people that have them, and know how to use them, and most importantly, when.
And do remember, having a gun is voluntary, and they are also used to defend people that volunteer not to have a gun.
(The opinion of Crooked Cops and other common Criminals don’t matter in this case.)
“Live free or die” and “Give me liberty or give me death” are the only words we can follow. Dont get wrong, I dont look forward to any violence and I sure as hell dont want to die. But I would much rather prefer death than to be be a slave under tyranny. And I promise that I don’t say these things lightly.
you already are a slave, if you are paying $1 of tax to any government anywhere , even if local or state
it supports endless corruption and furthers the total ineffectiveness of the constitution asit has been rendered by the liberal agenda and the conservative agenda working hand in hand, to divide and conquer , classic machiavellian tactics while Joe sixpack sleeps it off with his shotgun under his pillow.
The one who wrote this article is completely wrong, we do not live in a constitutional republic, that is stupid and blind to reality, we live in corporate welfare-ocracy. Its really more like Feudalism. We have class warfare here to the max. The haves vs the have nots, the preppers vs the doomsday deniers. The man made global warming people vs the unbelievers. The welfare recipients, and the people who are taxed to pay for those welfare addicts be they on social security, welfare, food stamps, or SSDI. All these payouts should be means tested to see if the recipients really need the income. Some people collect SSDI and go weight lifting everyday and collect a pension from a state or local government.
The rule of law is long gone here and has been since Bush was in office and decided to fight a war on terror against the CIA created Al-Keeda !!!
The rule of law died when the banking system said in 2008 give us 750 billion dollars or we will crash the entire economy and AIG and bankster/gangsters got their big bonus payouts that year as the real estate market collapsed in on itself.
There is no tyrannical gubmint JIM, just lobbyists buying off legislators to get the laws bent to the satisfaction of whatever monied interests are paying the most. Bailouts = corporate welfare. Federal reserve control of interest rates = corporate welfare – means companies give penny antie raises to people who work for them for peanuts where hidden taxes like food prices and heating prices and gasoline price increases chip away at any raise you think you are getting this year.
You are almost there. But how about this? We will go means testing those “free loaders on welfare” five minutes after the last international banker who is a part of the $60 trillion derivatives fraud is tried and convicted. Oh yeah, and by the way, we will only be going after the 30 million illegal aliens stealing our money. The rest are American nationals and whatever they are getting, no matter how they are getting it, is not a drop in the bucket to what has been stolen from them as a rightful part of their inheritance of the richest country on planet Earth.
You do realize that if we took back that which has been outright stolen from us and divided it up, we would all be far too rich to even consider needing any kind of safety net.
Food for thought.
You make a similar point as the author without meaning to: our government is not behaving as a constitutional-anything at the moment, and they haven’t for at least the last 100 years. But simply because they have gotten away with murder (figuratively and literally) for so long, and have managed to dupe so many into believing their lawlessness is ‘legal’, doesn’t legitimize their crimes.
You’re also right about there being no “government”. There are only banks and corporations acting as the invisible hand inside the government glove. If you really want to pinpoint the true villains, look at fractional reserve banking and the charging of interest (previously known as usury). BTW, they say the global derivatives market is approaching one quadrillion, or a thousand trillion. That’s a heck of a lot of money from nothing. No wonder counterfeiting used to be punishable by hanging.

“I promise that I don’t say these things lightly.”
No American ever should.
Especially when they swear an oath to America, and the Constitution ever since the moment this country was founded…
And one more thing, the world IS watching what will happen here.
Life is all so good in them other countries, but still…
Wow! This author of this article definitely puts what all patriots are thinking and then some in perspective and puts it bluntly and directly straight and to the point, just like the author says.
The issues on Democracy vs Constitutional Republic and the examples of each are plainly put as well as the 2nd Amendment argument as well as the questioning of whether people are up to the challenge or not of protecting themselves and defending liberty when the time comes. This is a good article to use on the sheeple who are still wrestling with themselves as to whether to stay in the matrix or step out of the matrix. I’m pretty sure it will strengthen them and pull them out if shown and would even encourage and enhance the strength of those who are awake and are still a little hesitant and weary about using their guns for self-defense in the future when it comes to a life or death situation. Very good article.
Unfortunately, decades of erosion of the Second Amendment by scurrilous legislation has gutted its main purpose- to have a civilian population that is equipped to withstand virtually any government forces which may be sent against it. But even police departments now have “military-grade” body armor, automatic weapons, drones, and tanks. They also have unlimited intel on everyone, accessible instantly via a few mouse clicks. Any attempt by commoners to purchase such armament, or acquire similar data as the government is a felony.
I don’t mention this to discourage, but to clarify a point- they have already destroyed the main tenet of the Second Amendment- equal footing against government forces. What they’re talking about now is simply more of the same handicapping, until we are left to defend our homes with little more than the muzzle loaders our forefathers used against the British in 1776.
So best to study up on asymmetrical warfare tactics, as well as SEER methods, if and when the need arises.
You mean SERE method?
You can push someone only so much before they start to push back…no matter how many guns the military have the civilians have more…and if the military have better weapons then the civilians will use those weapons against them.
“Where rights (liberty) secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no legislation which would abrogate (abolish) them.” – United States Supreme Court
Rights (and our Constitution) can NOT be altered accept by Constitutional amendment. As such, any ”Laws” made to regulate or limit, license or ban or in any way alter our Constitution short of a Constitutional Amendment pursuant to Article V are ILLEGAL under our Constitution according to the highest court in our land. Please read: http://resistancetononsense.wordpress.com/2013/01/01/sandy-hook-gun-control-the-real-argument/
As long as we are REPEALING basic RIGHTS in this country:
Let’s repeal the 13th Amendment also.
Let’s repeal the 19th Amendment also.
Let’s repeal the 1st Amendment also.
Actually, it’s a no loose situation when you consider that the exclusive reason they want your guns, is in order to kill you anyway, with minimum loss to themselves.
The time is soon arriving that they can no longer placate, control and support the population ‘peaceably’ with their fiat, Monopoly money printing press… the consequences of which means they must result to that ol’ historical standby of utilizing violence and death upon the population to survive and maintain their power and wealth.
The points are well made and virtuous regarding the defense of liberty, but unfortunately, the cultural psychology of the vast majority of American males over the previous three generations have been effectively neutered via the media and educational system. The tyrants need not fear confrontation by millions of John Waynes or Humphrey Bogarts, but merely millions of lisping metro-sexual BMW drivers, with clear nail polish, rolling their eyes and ‘bitching’ about why they are not allowed to take their X-Box and big screen TV to the FEMA camp with them. I fear the remaining American men, who do not fit into this classification, will not be sufficient for the task at hand.
Then again, there is some hope. According to the statistics of the paradigm of guerrilla warfare, success is assured if only 3% of a population goes up against the tyrannical 1%, with the proviso that the remaining 96% just merely stay the hell out of the conflict.
It isn’t just one’s constitutional right it is EVERY PERSON ON EARTH’S birth right to secure the means in which secures their sovereignty! The 2nd amendment is only there as documented legal recourse for the people to use in court when they are facing prosecution for defending their personal liberty! Liberty IS something worth killing and dying for in my book anyways! We should have bitten back hard long ago when the crooks on Capitol Hill started f#@king with our liberty. It should have been reformed during the Viet Nam war of aggression and Nixon should have died in a prison cell! We have to take the responsibility for our inaction by drawing the line in the sand. Trying to take our arms by force will result in lethal consequence to those who do!
I believe it to be fully legal to match force with any group, person or agency that trespasses on to one’s property with the intent to confiscate their means of defense!
One more thing. Know that when tyranny makes it’s move to prevail, many of those who stand against it are going to die. If you are going to stand against the tyrants you must know that your freedom is worth more than your very life and if the ultimate price is paid know to that you died free, protecting your freedom!
Hello SPLC! We know you’re watching, and welcone to our little discussion. Wonder if the FBI has so much hubris that they actually expect a fair percentage of would-be resistance to second amendment violations to simply put up their hands on the internet and “wait their turn”?
Having said that, if putting one’s hand up in an oath to resist these upcoming violations effectively amounts to simply a convoluted form of suicide, where the government machine doesn’t care either way, then why volunteer your details and do their job for them?
The pro second amendment side in this fight may have a distinct advantage keeping their numbers and plans secret, except for tactical decoys, of course.
But depending on outlook, even the statist side has nothing to lose but a few thugs and drones, and a few more of those pesky constitutionalists, right? And the banks and media love it either way.
Boy, you were doing great until you made one foolish statement…”I mean no disrespect to our elected officials but they need to understand that “We the People” will not be disarmed…”
I think it is rather clear that very few of us have the slightest bit of respect for any damned politician out there. I most certainly don’t respect them and I hope that they are fully aware of that fact. I mean all disrespect to them.
Look people, most of us who frequent this site realize that the government has been infiltrated and we understand that we are slaves to the dollar via the federal reserve. So when I make a comment saying “I’m going to fight for freedom because I dont want to be a slave.”, this doesn’t mean that I am not aware of the difference between real freedom and the illusionary freedom of today.
We should look at freedom as not only our right on every level but an absolutely essential requisite fir life. This foreign invasion is no less an attack on liberty the people have not yet called it what it is a war.
Death is the only response to those who would attempt to enslave a people. The Jews know the dangers and the injustice in such an attempt im sure.
There is a higher ground than stooping to their level. It is called Sui Juris – we are all kings and queens in our own right. America has completely forgotten about Common Law. When I use that word today, the only thing that comes to mind for anyone is “Common Law Marriage.” You need to understand that law (the Common Law) exists today to keep you from fighting sword to sword or gun to gun. If you demand and COMMAND your rights, then you should do so via the civilized way of battle for your God given, Constitutional rights. Fight with the sword or gun, or realize you are American Royalty. Visit 1215.org and especially http://mculta.daisydoor.net/ to learn what it means to be King of your castle under the LAW (Common Law – not Roman, statutory law). No Attorney at Equity, politician, or Judge will ever tell you this: “I claim jurisdiction under the Common Law.” How do you plead? “I do not consent, and I waive the benefits.” Case dismissed.
Let’s please understand Thomas Jefferson’s intent first before we start another Civil War again. I’m all for it if that attempt fails though.
When did you start doing this, yesterday? The courts are captured and they will flat out tell you to shove your Constitution and Bill of Rights up your ass. And if you push the issue, they will kill you.
We have already went this route. We know who we are and what our rights are and we do not have to solve a rubiks cube in order to have them afforded to us.
The talking part is done. The king has denied our petitions. You are looking for a way to hide and avoid the inevitable. You better arm up and get ready because we are sick and tired of playing paper games.
“I have no idea how many of my neighbors have the will to defend their constitutional rights. 2%? 20%? I am afraid that 20% is a high number, unfortunately.”
Just to let you know, 20% would be an extremely high number to change this government. I’ve read that the American Revolution was conducted with less than 10% of public support (wish I could remember the source now). Just saying – not that I think we are there yet (Re: Common Law).
