Iraqi Christians Weigh Taking Up Arms Against the Islamic State

World Events and the Bible

WEB Notes: These people should pray to God and ask for direction. God has always had His followers take a stand and fight. This is recorded all throughout the Bible. The Apostle Peter was an expert swordsman who cut off the ear of a solider who came to take Christ away. That simply could not have been accomplished by someone who was inexperienced with the sword. The take away here is that we are to protect our own and make a stand. We do not allow someone to break into our homes and harm our families or we become worse than an infidel. We are to be at peace with our neighbors IF possible. It is not always possible to be at peace.

(Source: National Geographic) – Of all the many ancient peoples who once lived in the land between the Tigris and the Euphrates, Iraq’s Assyrian Christians pride themselves on having persisted in their traditional homeland for millennia, even as other civilizations thrived then disappeared, as languages and cultures died out, as ethnic groups melted into the ways and genetic pools of their conquerors.

But today Iraq’s Assyrians, and its Christians in general, fear that their place in this multiethnic, multisectarian mosaic society is shrinking, under severe threat from the ultraconservative Islamist group the Islamic State (IS).

Now, the particularly harsh nature of the IS’s assault on Christians, Yazidis, Shiite Muslims, and others who do not share allegiance to the IS’s brand of ultraconservative Sunni Islam has led some of Iraq’s Christians to take the unusual step of shedding their historical passivity and consider taking up arms to defend and eventually govern themselves. – Read More – National Geographic

  1. I hope the Iraqi Christians settle it in their minds to take up arms and protect themselves and their families from people such as isis. But not just taking up arms, but taking up arms and doing mighty exploits in the name of Jesus. Perhaps better than David’s mighty men.

If it’s war and bloodshed the heathen isis want, then give it to them 10 fold and make them wish they were never born.

  2. “We are to be at peace with our neighbors IF possible. It is not always possible to be at peace.”

I’ve always seen this as the bottom line… IF possible.

Concerning the sub-human maggots we’re dealing with, it is definitely, positively, absolutely NOT possible, considering their endgame.

  3. Sane Bible Thumpers always fall short when trying to convince “Christ’s Flock” that Jesus really didn’t want them to “turn the other cheek” and “give to Caesar what is Ceasar’s”, though he said that politically-correct stuff when in public and surrounded by Z-agents looking for an excuse to turn him over to the Romans as a “terrorist”.

What JC said in private to his closest disciples holds more weight.

Read Mathew10:34 and your Christian anxiety of committing sin for engaging in violence will be forever quieted.

Establishment Christians should assume a secure position on the toilet before reading verses 35 and 36.
