Mandatory Voting. Thanks Obama!

Published on Mar 28, 2015 by Stefan Molyneux

President Barack Obama has created a political firestorm by floating the idea of mandatory or compulsory voting. “If everybody voted, then it would completely change the political map in this country,” Obama said, calling it “potentially transformative.” Not only that, Obama said, but universal voting would “counteract money more than anything.” Stefan Molyneux has some thoughts on the subject, mandatory voting? Thanks Obama!

  1. “Not only that, Obama said, but universal voting would “counteract money more than anything.”

    ???

  2. Mandatory voting is only being proposed so the wetbacks can vote.

What we should do is require people to be tested to earn a “license to vote” to make sure they understand something about how our government is supposed to work, rather than have a gang of morons vote for someone because they “liked him in the Terminator”.

The simple fact that hundreds of thousands of people voted for Arnold Swartznegger is proof that too many people are incapable of making a wise decision regarding who they should vote for.

Decisions regarding who runs this country shouldn’t be left to gangs of idiots.

  3. There should be a no confidence choice on the ballot if you are going to have mandatory voting! The people should be able to vote against all the bad candidates.

      1. May be one or two, but we should be able to vote against all the candidates if none are worthy to hold high office. How do you assume bad candidates into good candidates. You know what they say about assuming, you make an ass out of you and me.

  4. What gets me about this whole mandatory voting thing, is no talk about a paid holiday off.

Technically, voting is supposed to be the greatest right of an American, and we don’t get the day off for the most important thing for an American.

So let’s make voting mandatory, BUT not give the day off so more people would pay fines or whatever the penalty would be.

How about this rouse: have a default pick: if you don’t vote, there’s an automatic vote for “NO ONE IS WORTH VOTING FOR”, and then no one gets in that position. Absolutely nobody is in the position. Your congressman gets more “NO ONE” votes? Then no congressman for that district.

How about a paid day off, and citizens do the counting on paper ballots? No more electronic voting machines or “officials” “counting” the votes.

    1. “How about a paid day off, and citizens do the counting on paper ballots?”

Being slaves, that would be acceptable for ‘citizens’.

Being nationals, we’d prefer to hang the whole lot of communist traitors in this so-called ‘government’, and start from scratch.

  5. Please tell me no one here really believes that voting happens in any way shape or form, on any plane of reality or any dimension? Please?

Spraying poison directly over our heads and right in front of our faces, killing us, but they would waste a single second to hear us?

Am I not getting the joke or missing something?

    1. Nope, it doesn’t happen, it’s controlled. The advent of electronic voting machines made it possible for a single person to change an election. At least with paper ballots hand counted, the gold standard of voting, there would have to be LOTS of people involved across the nation. At least you’d have a chance at real elections. And the paper ballots counted by citizens, NOT “officials” and we’re not allowed to see the counting.

Did you know the guy who started electronic voting machine legislation (I think his name was Bob NEY?) ended up in jail?

I don’t know why people don’t talk about e-vote machines more.

DOES EVERYONE KNOW E-VOTE MACHINES ARE NOT RECOUNTABLE???

If you want to talk about one of the biggest things people don’t know about: E-VOTE MACHINES ARE NOT RECOUNTABLE.

When you see a “recount”, it’s not what you think, it’s not a vote-level recount, IE: getting all the original votes and recounting them. It’s not possible on e-vote machines.

When you DO see a real recount, it’s either on the little paper ballots that are left, OR paper ballots counted by computers. In the latter case, the paper ballots are counted by hand. Because the votes actually exist on paper.

Get it? If it’s FULL electronic, there are NO INDIVIDUAL VOTES to recount, that is why it’s not recountable. How many of you knew that?

The votes DO NOT EXIST. There’s just TOTALS here and there, at certain points in the chain of custody, to “recount”. It’s not a vote-level recount.
