MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An off-duty Memphis police officer shot in Cordova, Tennessee, on Sunday has died, police tell CBS affiliate WREG.
Police responded to the scene shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was transported to Regional Medical Center in critical condition following the shooting, but died shortly after. Relatives of the officer could be seen crying outside the hospital.

WREG reports that police identified the officer as 32-year-old Terence Olridge. He has been on the force since September 2014, working at Airways Station.
Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said officers got a call around 1 p.m. about a shooting at a home in the Memphis suburb of Cordova. He said a male suspect is in custody, but didn’t say whether the person has been charged.
Armstrong said the investigation is ongoing and that “details are sketchy.”
Police blocked the street in front of the house where the shooting happened. A plainclothes detective spoke with a neighbor and uniformed officers also were on the scene.
The victim’s uncle told WREG the officer was on his way to work in his uniform when he was shot in his car. He was able to crawl back to the house to get help, the uncle said.
Olridge leaves behind a fiancé, who is four months pregnant, according to Armstrong.
Dozens of people were using Facebook to post condolences and prayers for Olridge’s family. Postings on the Blue Lives Matter Memphis page also called for support for the Memphis Police Department.
Olridge was the fourth Memphis officer to be fatally shot in slightly more than four years.
Officer Sean Bolton was fatally wounded during a traffic stop in August. Officer Tim Warren was killed while responding to a shooting at a downtown Memphis hotel in July 2011. In December 2012, Officer Martoiya Lang was killed while serving a warrant.

I’m glad he’s dead. That’s one stinking pig that won’t be killing and/or beating the crap out of innocent people anymore.
The shooter did a great service to society, and I hope he gets away.

That means they have no idea who did this, and the guy that have “in custody” is probably the only person they saw at the scene.
Agreed. Hearing about pigs getting smoked always makes my day.
In a police state, the police are the enemy. There is never, ever any excuse to be part of an institution that violates basic human rights by kidnapping people for victimless offenses, using unnecessary force, or otherwise imposing injustice. It’s even less excusable in a country that was meant to be based on individual liberty and a government of strictly limited powers.

According to today’s article, he was shot during an argument with a neighbor.
