HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — A police officer is accused of punching his 3-year-old son in the face at their Long Island home.

Jason Sharp, of Bellmore, was charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.

He was arraigned Sunday and released on his own recognizance.

The judge issued an order of protection, barring Sharp from harassing his wife, his son and a 5-year-old child.

Newsday (http://bit.ly/YlxPtT ) says Sharp is an officer on the Brooklyn police gang unit.

The 3-year-old suffered swelling and bruising to the right eye, cheek and nose. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say Sharp also punched a hole in the wall of the house while arguing with his wife.

He’s due back in court on March 18. Information about his attorney wasn’t immediately available.

  1. you dont have to be a cop to beat your kids. im calling zog narrative on this story. hegelian hegemony fanning the fires

  2. Now think about it. If this guy is happy doing that to his own child where does that leave you and yours? And he’s back on the streets “on his own recognizance”…

  3. If this was anybody else he would have been charged with felony child abuse causing injury. Anything less than a long stay in prison is not enough for this pig. This cop should also loose his right to carry a gun while out on bail/bond also – actually lose his gun priv.s for life,he is dangerous . This pig needs a little hard core street justice and put in traction with a colostomy bag. F him! A order of protection HAHAHA that is funny – that is like saying that a restraining order preventsfurther crime. What a joke.

  4. Another great reason to ban cops.
Also, all cops should be sterilized to prevent child abuse and another generation of legal abusers.
