The Odessa Police Department is warning the public to be cautious of an unknown amount of missing explosives reported from Halliburton’s yard in Ector County.

Around 5:48 a.m., the Odessa Police Department bomb squad unit was called out to Halliburton, 6155 West Murphy St., after being told about the missing explosives, according to a news release form the Odessa Police Department.

The explosives were supposed to be transported from the Odessa location to an unspecified location in Reeves County, according to the news release. It is unknown if the explosives were stolen or missing.

The explosives — oilfield igniters — are reported at about 2 inches in length and 0.5 inches in diameter, and include no markings to describe what they are, according to the release. The public is being asked that if they find an item similar in structure to use caution and immediately call the police department at 432-333-3641 or 432-333-TIPS.

  1. Why would call out the bomb squad unit, to report missing explosives? Oh, look it was right here yesterday, all 8 tons!

  2. Yea, sure….Call the cops and I’m sure that I’ll be the one with a bullet in my back and be declared the patsy, while the explosives “mysteriously disappear” yet again.

And if you’ve seen the security at Halliburton, you’d know that the only way they would have “mysteriously disappear” would be because they allowed it to happen.
