Easter Project

I have been evaluating and reevaluating the situation with the 99ers.  I have come to the conclusion that there are two obstacles that take front and center in stifling any forward momentum in our cause.  The first one involves the 99ers themselves as they seem completely unable to take any affirmative action to save themselves.  The second is our fellow citizens that have turned their backs to our plight and are ignoring us.

Having identified these problems, I propose the following solution.
As the vast majority of our fellow citizens who are forsaking us as we are being crucified upon the cross of corporate greed profess Christianity, we must force the issue in the Christian venue.  April 22nd will mark Good Friday for this year, the day Jesus Christ was forced to bear his cross through the streets of Jerusalem to Calvary Hill where he was crucified.  All but a few who claimed to love and believe in Jesus Christ denied him out of fear of their own punishment at the hands of the priests of the Sanhedrin Counsel.

This Easter, April 24th, I propose that those 99ers among us who are not too lazy to get out of their own way build crosses and platforms to be used in an exhibition protest.  We target the churches in every major city where our so called representatives, state and federal, profess to worship.  With all necessary permits in place, we have a procession wherein one man, with “99er” written across his front and back, bears the cross that has the words “Corporate Greed” inscribed horizontally and vertically upon it, down the street to the sidewalk in front of the church.  The others in the procession place on the sidewalk in front of the church, the platform which will be designed with a square hole in its middle to receive the cross.  Then to the chants of “We are being sacrificed to corporate greed”, the man is strapped to the cross which is raised into the platform.  The chanting and the display should last through the service and until those inside the church are forced to come out and face it as their only option to leave.

I understand this is extremely radical but it is also non-violent.  To those who would call this a blasphemy, I tell you that under the circumstances I do not believe Jesus would mind.  This will not take tens of thousands or millions of 99ers to accomplish.  A mere thousand of our 15 million could make this work.

99ers need to seek out our local theater groups.  A person does not have to be a 99er to participate. I’ll bet it would be relatively easy to find people among the local theater groups and colleges who would love to be tacked up on a cross and be in the news. In reality what we are talking about is a theatrical performance.

Take the excuses and throw them to the wayside.  You say you want your jobs back, well I say if that is true it’s time to get out the tape measure, the square, the saw, hammer, and nails and get to work.  Only we can change our situation.

I am a 99er and I have been looking for work since I was laid off. Everyday I am looking hard. I am so tired of hearing I already hired someone that I am giving up. The only thing that is keeping me sane is faith and my wife. My wife has cancer and she and is on disability, and if I don’t find a job soon we will lose everything we ever worked for. I don’t think the people who are responsible for this in the first place, would realize how hard it would be to tell your sick wife that soon we are going to lose our home and we are going to be poor for the rest of our lives. This goverment is so screwed from Bush and I do blame Bush. He should have seen this comming along time ago, and I think he just didn’t care why he is rich.

I have been unemployed for over 2 years. I am at my end. I am about to lose my home. food is running out. I have been looking for work since I was laid off. I am on so many job sites it is crazy. I send out so many resumes it is sick. Have a company that said they would hire me in January passed all the checks and drug test still no job. They keep telling me their waiting for things. I am considering killing my self. i have never been in a situation like this before. Pray to God all the time but he does not seem to be listening. Being to believe he never existed. If only I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. I go on interviews but they are scares. They tell me am a perfect fit but I never get the job. This is so confusing. I have always been able to find a job no matter what. I guess I just needed to vent.

I would love to pull this off in front of St. Pat.’s. The issues at hand are lumber, tools, space to build, Participation, and permits. With Bloomberg,Trump (next door), and Rock. Center/NBC across the street, you can bet that there will be arrests, but of all the unreported Rallies we’ve had in NYC, this one Would get attention.

    • Henry Shivley - OR says:

      Right on Angel,
We are going to have to get a little ratical until we break the media blackout. If I could be at St. Pat’s I would gladly go to jail, though I don’t really see anything they can do to stop us legally. If people can march at military funerals holding signs saying “God is killing the soldiers because of the gays” I would think the supreme court would have to be behind us on this one.

It’s all about the tourists and the image. International corporate mafia at it’s best. 5 out of 20 were arrested, cuffed, and hauled away last Nov. at a peaceful Sit-In in front of the Unemployment Office. Why? They were crossing the street with signs. Keep in mind, bumper to bumper stand still traffic, which New Yorkers never respect anyway. Now, they’ve outlawed smoking on public streets and parks. We have a dictator in charge who changed the law to get himself elected for a third term (though the people and the council voted against it), then changed the law back after he got himself narrowly re-elected. For months, both Bloomberg and Trump have been making noises about running for President in 2012 (God help us).

    My fellow NYC-TriState 99ers,
Is there anyone out there willing to yell “I’m mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it anymore” (quote from “Network”)?
We’re talking a peaceful, ’60′s Rally, but we need numbers.

  9. I’m interested in doing a post on my blog about this. Is there someone I can interview? Do you know if there is a group working on this project in Michigan?

    • Henry Shivley - OR says:

      Jacky Headapohl,
I have sent out emails to everyone on our Nationwide Rally page who is from Michigan asking them to step up as individuals to make the Easter Project happen in your state. I’m sure all 99ers will appreciate any attention you can give to this matter.
As for everyone reading this post here is a chance. Are we just going to stand by or is there someone out there who is going to be one of those somebodies that gets it done. There is a glowing ember that stands ready to be a flame. Let’s let Michigan be the first fire in what will become a nationwide force that cannot be extinguished. Let’s make the Easter Project a reality.

I just don’t see how any of this will really happen. Most who have exhausted their benefits do not have money, transportation or both to get to where these rallies will be held. Including myself on behalf of a very good friend who has been without a job three years and counting. And who is 38 years old and no children so that means no help from the local welfare office. Been there, tried that. Turned flat down.Anyway, we’ve been talking and wonder how many will actually do as they say and be there no matter what? It’s only words here on the blogs. Action is yet to be seen. So we can’t risk going and driving the nearly one hour to the Unemployment office to be railroaded into thinking there is going to be a demonstration and then find out we are the only one’s who showed up. Then make the dreaded one hour trip back and probably on gas fumes alone.

I supposed we’ll pass. But I wish everyone luck. Maybe these demo’s should have been created long before now. Time is running out for most of us to be able to help much in the way of demo’s since we are flat broke. And I know my friend is flat broke. I am currently paying their rent, car insurance, and utilities. And I don’t know for how long I can do that.

    Take care.

Why isn’t anyone coming to our aid when this is clearly age, ethnic and racial discrimination in the “workplace”? The few jobs that ARE available, are NOT, I say NOT for us. Mostly, we are the wrong “color”! We need to start seeing that. This is a legal issue. This is called “Reverse Discrimination”. I am being passed over for someone who speaks spanish, just look at the job boards… when was it ever REQUIRED to speak spanish in order to be eligible to apply for a job? We are being outrun by these folks, and it falls upon these business owners who hire them. Just look around next time you are out. Look at who is working… Look at who is helping YOU!. at the market.. gas station… insurance company.. phone company….local drug store…and the list goes on and on. We have to take off our “politically correct” hats just for a moment to see what is really going on.

I am a 99er. I am close to the end…… I have 2 college degrees and a graduate degree in business, worked for over 30 years and I lost all of my money in the stock market 10 years ago then again 6 years ago, then finally 3 years ago. I am 60 and have nothing. No family, no house and all of my friends have left the area. When I go for a job interview I respond to all questions well if not grand. I carry myself very in a very polite manner, but I am action oriented. I am not slow or dumb. I am articulate. Then I hear that they hired someone 20 or 30 years younger than me. In a few weeks I know I will get kicked out of my apartment. I have lost faith in our country and the system and with people. It all seems hopeless to me. I feel I have great leadership skills. But, I need a job. Please.

      Paladinette,
I too am finding it difficult to believe that the 99ers are of the same species that I am. My education consists of a GED and I have never had a lot of money, but I’ll guarantee you the Governor of the State of Oregon knows the name, “Henry Shivley,” because I have gone head to head with him and the corporate mafia here that supports him and I have cost them millions. If I lived in the same town as John Boehner he would have to have me killed or he would have to move, because I would be all over him like mud caked on a pig’s ass. (I got that one from Mark.)
No matter what sooner or later, enough people like you and I are going to get together and make something happen. Maybe that is what the rest of these cowards are sitting around waiting for. Maybe that is why they were targeted for culling in the first place.

i live in the ‘great state’ (sarcasim?!.) of tn. it’s gone to hell thanks to our new governor. well it was there already he just pushed us further down… i emailed my representative about our trigger out and he responded spouting about hr 589, not one word about the trigger out. i responded pointing out my email was about the trigger out and no response at all. think he had a clue??? i emailed our senator alexander and satan it took him about 2 weeks to respond. guess he was too busy with golf or something. all he spouted was what he has already done to help the unemployed and like all the dictators in our government not one word about what they are going to do to help all of us. i emailed our wonderful new governor after i visited his web site where an article was posted about his new education program that is going to do wonders for our state and bring it up to par. excuse me new governor but this is the south. the south has always been populated by the less educated stupid people since, let’s see, hasn’t it been that way forever??? i’m ashamed i was born in this state at this point. i feel i am in an ignorant state and now that it’s gone republican oh my santa help. it’s not political it’s religious. aren’t church and state suppose to be separate? someone needs to inform these holes of that. anyway what really got me heated was in the article about the education reforms i found simple grammar errors. how embarrassing. think it’s because no one proof reads anymore? i’ve been noticing tons of errors in print lately and on tv. think it’s because they fired all the old school and hired youngons who don’t proof anything. anyway he said after careful review of my concerns he was forwarding my letter to the dept of labor and workforce development. (what a freakin joke) this countries going down guys! everyone with a job is in their own little worlds with not a clue.(young and dumb, that’s what washington and employers want) notice how they’re not even talking about the nuclear disaster in japan anymore. i’d say we should be hearing about it. i know the weather is very strange since it happened. has anyone else noticed that???

an article stated 75 percent of u.s. is unhappy with government. when government supports and is controlled by the 1 percent do we know that they don’t care about the other 99 percent. this isn’t a free country and it’s going to get worse. think they’re gonna allow us to vote them out. nope. we are being controlled and given tiny bits of info unless you really dig for it. as for dem/rep i’m with others, at this point they are all crooks looking to fill their own pockets and could care less about the middle class which will disappear and the poor, which is growing exponentially.

if anyone would like to help our new governor along his way he did supply a phone number. 615 253 6913
