The Nationwide Rally to Extend Unemployment Insurance (or NREU) is a planned, peaceful demonstration to protest the Congress of the United States’ unwillingness to extend unemployment benefits to unemployed Americans who, despite being eligible to receive benefits, have exhausted them.
The Nationwide Rally to Extend Unemployment Insurance will take place at individual unemployment offices across the country on the same, to-be-determined date.
The Nationwide Rally to Extend Unemployment Insurance will be organized as fallows:
Those who wish to participate in The Nationwide Rally to Extend Unemployment Insurance should express their intentions to do so by replying to this post with their name or pseudonym, and the address of unemployment office where they will be able to assemble on the day of the rally. Their name will then be added to a roll under the category of they’re respective state and then under the unemployment office that they have submitted.
A date and time for the rally will be scheduled when the roll contains at least twenty-five names, under fifty different unemployment offices. You may monitor the progress of the roll by visiting our NREUI Roll page, as it will be continuously updated.

I’m 60 unemployed 19 months what do you think my chances are of getting hired again….ZIlch. I was making 65K per year now I am making 0. My unemployment is exhausted (79 weeks in VA). My house foreclosed on, bank accounts empty, 401 k gone, savings gone, husband laid off too. We are now living in a 23 ft camper where ever we can park it, it’s primitive and pathetic. I have health issues and lost my health insurance.
Those bastards in Washington havent got a clue. They need to be fired! All of them! it’s time for a REVOLUTION in this country. Let them sleep outside and go without food. We need some hackers to drain their bank accounts and let them see what it’s like to have 0 money. Something has to be done we need to take our country and government back from these pompas asses with their heads up their butts. They don’t give a damn about the poor or the middle class.

I went through this early in the whole Sub Prime Mortgage fiasco.
The house I was living in and helping TO SAVE was foreclosed on when THE ARM went through the roof along with others in VALLEJO CALIFORNIA.THis was end of 2004.
The Evil Lender did not want to work with the owner Kris.
Kris raised a Family in that house on 531 Wallace in Vallejo.
Lived there for twenty two years.
Just owed about 150,000,
Tried hard to save it after becoming unemployed and disabled.He went back to work and was lied to by the LOCAL OFFICE of the lender.The DEAL they made was renigged by the National office and the property foreclosed on.Kris was not responsible totally.He was lied to all the way.
WE knew something was funny when the last appraisals were way high almost 400,000.One was Over
The Bottom fell out of the market and that house on 531 Wallace just sold in 2010 for 108,000.
I have struggled since and have spent about four years out of the last six homeless.
I was having issues myself and needed the stability.
The Baby Boomers are screwed big Time.
I could not find a JOB.I was not used to that.
I am disabled and collecting a check and have a plan.
The VAs VASH program is giving me Section eight in a year.
I am BLESSED and I am still homeless.
I see light at the end of the tunnel.
The VA is having difficulty finding housing the money is there.
Eventually so is DIGNITY.
There are TOO many of us Homeless Vets and it does not happen overnight.
I will be working with the veterans Non Profit Swords to Plowshares.
All baby boomers deserve the same DIGNITY.
The SRO housing is in short supply so the rent went up as the houses mortgages went down.
The Heartless Yuppie Millionaires in San Francisco are so damn arrogant they will Scowl a Mentally Ill Citizen Eating out of Garbage cans on the way to WAYFARE,PERBACCO,MICHAEL MINAS,and TADICH GRILL to PIG OUT.Then Blog and Email the Newspapers until the Hate and Apathy level is INSANE.
All this while THE EX Photo Op Whore Mayor we HAD just cared about the YOUNG addicts who can push a broom.The Baby Boomers on Stipends who CAN’T Afford the rent are ignored because the TRUTH IS there is a critical INEXPENSIVE SRO Shortage and the NIMBYS and Wealthy like it that way.
The Middle Class City that I was Born in is Now an UPPER MIDDLE CLASS and Wealthy YUPPIE PLAYGROUND and heartless to the Mentally ILL Homeless Baby Boomers.

Sorry to hear about your plight. Guess that is your reward for your service to your country. I have witnessed the same invasion where I live. I can no longer fish the rivers as rich folk from California bought up the river banks. These lands had been forest service lands all my life but then one day, they fell under the control of the BLM, afterwhich they were promptly sold to rich investers. In short I pay taxes to maintain the forest lands all my life only to see them sold at an auction I was not privy to. And oh yes, these people look down on the natives.

I am a supporter of UEC extension, and I wish you all good luck. Do not get down if your efforts go understated, as you MUST remember one thing. These politicians KNOW what the right thing to do is…they just dont want to do it right now, well, until they get what they want. You can do all the standing outside of offices you want, and all you will be is cold and disappointed. There is nothing the American people can do, these crooks were VOTED IN by the people. It is not my choice to be unemployed, I would much prefer to have a job to go to everyday. I have looked and they simply are not available. Can anyone tell me what happened to the words UNITED WE STAND or FOR THE PEOPLE? Our legislators need to wake up and realize that we are members of their Districts who are loosing our homes, and unable to feed our families.. It will begin a devastating blow when law abiding citizens are forced on to the streets to fend for themselves and their families anyway that they can to survive. It is not a very pretty picture but unless extended benefits for unemployment are passed quickly what other choices do we have to survive? We are Americans……..we are not looking for hand outs only a hand up.

In daylight, well, we haven”t created words to equal mother natures gifts now have we? I am a single mother whose been unemployed for two and a half years. Sam, when I am out of food and money and I know I have failed my daughter, I go outside. I take in something that is much bigger than myself, it is free, it is beautiful and it lifts you up. The State employees at these unemployment offices are not to blame. I recently visited my local UI office; they understand and are genuinely compassionate people who took the time to listen to my concerns. They want to help but they have nothing to do with extensions or lack thereof.
Protesting in front of UI offices will have no affect on the fat robber barons (Republicans and Democrats) who say there representing us. There has to be a better way.
The real hurdle is that none of us have any money to mount any kind of real protest that will draw the attention we need. That works great for the rich who have all the money they need to make us disappear and a bunch left over for a very Merry Christmas.

When the tyranny is handed down it is administered to us by the social communistic ground troops (government employees). I’m sure there were a lot of “genuinely compassionate people” in the bureaucracies of the Nazis and Stalinists. The fact is they were all complicit with treason against their people through participation. The bottom line, they are on the other side of the fence, thus they are my enemies.

No big deal, I had lots of peroxide and I’m not easy to kill. I do know a few other fellows who pulled their own teeth because they could not get in to see a dentist. I guess that is why it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside when I see illegal aliens getting health and dental care that the people who were born here cannot get.
Yeah, I’ve got a damaged molar that is starting to tell me to go find my needle nose vise grips. I’ve been mustering up the fortitude to crimp down and yank. The pain isn’t that bad yet but……..

Maria, you are not alone. I have been staying with family for over 3 years, paying rent on storage, bills and other expenses while also attending online college with student loans. I lose my benefits in 2 weeks with little prospect but I wanted to share this poem that I found – I know this may have little meaning to some people but, I try to hold onto faith. There are days I don’t know how to move forward with my own family members who are also out of a job, for a long stretch of time. Keep faith and a power greater than us will some how hear our cries. Politicians have always been the root cause of American evil; we are together no matter now far in distance.
DO NOT QUIT
When things go wrong,

That is crazy is that the unemployment benefit was sold as exchange for a tax cut for the rich, that everybody was going to get the extension of unemployment benefit, but the people with 60 weeks of unemployment are going to get noting. They sales was for two year of tax for the rich for one year of unemployment. They sold the castle for a piece of bread what a scam to sales to the public the tax cut for the rich. It is hard to get work in Las Vegas with 15% unemployment, you fill many application and many interview but noting especially if are over 50 year old too young to retire. I was planning to get a Nevada handyman license but with the unemployment gone the little money I have to get the license I will need to survive for next two month to see if I can get a job or be on the street liken a vagabond. I’m between the wall and the sword. I will not have Christmas for me and family and friend.

There are over 5 million 99ers now and those numbers will increase rapidly from this point! We will NOT quit until ALL UE are heard and helped! We need to fight these people in office and stand up for our rights as Americans. Most of us have worked all our lives to be treated like second class citizens. I went back to school putting myself further in debt to finish and maybe not find a job still. This is the saddest state of affairs I have ever seen and I don’t see it getting better soon. WE honestly have the wrong President and people under him in there, he is the leader and shame on him for allowing any Americans to suffer like this. The Rep are in control as if they never left office and he and the other dems are just sitting there…

I’ve struggled, begged and borrowed from my family and friends until they are exhausted just like me. The President and congress have again let me down. I am so tired of looking for jobs and being told I am over qualified or that the position was just filled! What bull they give us for not having any funds to hire workers. It’s a shame that we send millions of dollars across the globe but we in our own country are suffering and no-one in leadership gives a care! Why don’t they create a program like the old C.E.T.A. program to get us back to work. Give employers a stimulant if they hire us permanently? What’s wrong with our government? I’m ready to march in washington. Let’s plan our demonstration soon. I’m almost homeless. I’m ready! Aren’t you 99ers ready to get our due pay or a government funded job? Let’s go peacefully but in mass!

If everyone on the list put a letter to the editor in their local newspaper telling their fellow 99ers about this site and the fact that we are trying to organize here, I believe our numbers would greatly increase overnight. I have taken the initiative in my own area and am becoming acquainted with more 99ers here every day.
I have family in Elkhart and though it has been many years I have spent some time there. I found the people to be free thinking decent Americans, so I believe a letter to the editor in your local newspaper could very well produce results in Elkhart.
Right now our focus needs to be attacking the mainstream media. Following the reporters around, documenting their dirty little secrets, investigating their past and once we have something on them we put it on a you tube video and let it rip. Once they recognize us as personal threat to them they will cease being so willing to participate in the news blackout in reference to the 99er issue. Hope this information helps.

I received the notice today my benefits end in two weeks. I went back to school for retraining and graduated in August. I cannot find a job in the field I retrained in or in the field I’ve worked in for 17 years. I voted for President Obama because I thought he cared about the little guy and would put an end to outsourcing. Doing so would bring jobs back to this country! With the tan man as speaker of the house now I fear the worse is yet to come.

Senator Durban sends me emails that are sent to many other people meaning thank you but I can not do anything for you. No email from Senator Kirk, he could care less. Our government only caters to the rich and the middle class and poor can go to hell. We are not important nor have money to lobby. LOST FOREVER WITHOUT A FIGHT.

I have always been a peaceful, God fearing, law abiding, tax paying citizen,
but since our so-called government leaders have quite apparently had
every opportunity to at least acknowledge our existence and still they refuse,
this must now be considered warfare, for us and our family’s own survival.

I would love to see them survive on what they are “forcing” us to. They don’t have a clue what it’s like to wonder where the next meal will come from, how you will stay warm, or if you will sleep tonight. Here where I live there is a waiting list for the homeless shelters, the food pantries are very low on supplies and there are very few places who are actually hiring. I had an interview (Yeah) about a month ago…the lady said she had 200 resumes come through before she just stopped looking and called a few of us in for interviews. Of course, I never heard a thing from her after the interview. I am over 40, have been out of work for almost 2 years (after working steadily for almost 30 years) and according to her I was ‘overqualified’ for the position.
We did not create this problem!!! however we get to pay for it…..for that matter, our children and grandchildren will still be paying for this. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise……Now we actually have some time to pay attention to what they are really doing to us…..and do something about it. This is a great idea and I think we need to get the word out NOW….get everyone involved, take back OUR country!!!!

It is absolutely pathetic what is happening in this country today. And the meaningless, redundant and completely pointless debate that goes on in the two Houses (House of Rep. And Senate) over the Unemployment Issues is disgusting. I am ashamed of the way things have been handled and can’t believe what Congress has allowed the Unemployed Americans to go through. And one of the most ridiculous aspects of the process is how spineless most of the Congress has been by NOT standing up for what they truly believe in and giving in to the bullying of the heartless sociopaths like Mitch McConnel and most of the Republicans in Congress. How they can hear all the stories of the complete despair that the Unemployed Americans are going through and continue to allow this social genocide to continue completely baffles me. Republicans would rather spend tax payer money on supporting Military NASCAR teams than use it to help the people who truly need it… Now that is one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard. I am not saying that Democrats are completely innocent in this issue because they let things get so much worse because they were not willing to compromise and pay for the UI Extensions, but at least they have and continue to address the issue. I understand the reason for not paying for it because it is an ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY and they did not want to set a Precedent that the completely out-of-touch Republicans can use in the future to shoot down possible needed UI Extensions. Especially in an Economy that is in the worst shape its ever been in since the Great Depression. If we left it up to the Republicans they would cut out all Federal Extensions and left the less fortunate Unemployed Americans to go homeless, starve, get sick, commit suicide and/or die. It is not all Republicans… ok, there might be one or two that side on REASON, COMPASSION, AND THEIR DUTY TO THE PEOPLE THAT ELECTED THEM and not GREED, Corporate Interest, The Wealthy, THEIR OWN POCKETS, etc… There have been a couple that have allowed the Democrats to do what they were elected to do… REPRESENT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THEIR BEST INTEREST. There is no way for the High and Mighty Politicians to understand what the Unemployed Americans are going through right now unless they were to go through it themselves. They don’t know what it’s like to not have a dime in the bank, no food in the cupboard, lose your car, no money to buy the necessary medication that alot of us need to survive, etc… Not to mention the toll it takes on your mental state. It is truly depressing when you are helplessly broke and despite your hardwork and tireless efforts there are no jobs to be found. So while they sit, eat, sleep and live in their big houses and enjoy the benefits of being elected to Public Office (NOT Corporate Office as it seems for most Republicans) they will never truly understand nor care about the American People that are suffering, not only Financially, but Mentally. I only hope for some kind of divine intervention to get help to the people who truly need it. All it takes is a heart and to look at the facts. It would be nice to see some common sense in Congress instead of the games, power struggles and favoritism to the people who do not need help and focus on one of the biggest catastrophe’s this country has seen in decades. Sorry about the long message but once I get started it is hard to stop, I have to physically stop myself or I would be at it for weeks. Don’t give up! Don’t let Congress and our Government screw us anymore! And I am praying for all of you out there that have been effected by the decisions of The U.S. Government, Wall Street, Big Banks and Corporate America that have put us in this position and have now turned their backs on us when we need them most. They had a super majority and could not be stopped in passing a Tier 5 unemployment extension. I’m afraid they too have no other consideration other than which side their bread is buttered on.
It is not political parties that will make or break us but rather our individualism and breaking free from the party line and examining each individual issue. This and knowing our Constitution is truly all the political power we need to free ourselves from our oppressors.

And actually President Obama can do something about all of this. He can turn this into a big piece of Legis. and go for the 50 vote count.

Steve, Well written and everything you said and more is true about the Republicans. But the Democrats will not get the smallest consideration here. They had a super majority and could not be stopped in passing a Tier 5 unemployment extension. I’m afraid they too have no other consideration other than which side their bread is buttered on.
It is not political parties that will make or break us but rather our individualism and breaking free from the party line and examining each individual issue. This and knowing our Constitution is truly all the political power we need to free ourselves from our oppressors.
Agree. The Dems, including the Current President, Nancy P. Harry Reid and all the Dems House and Senate need to go. We really need to figure out how to elect these people OUT. And actually President Obama can do something about all of this. He can turn this into a big piece of Legis. and go for the 50 vote count.

I have just become a 99er. There is no work out there. I have been looking every day. I am 49 years old and have been in construction all my life. I am even willing to flip burgers. The jobs just aren’t there. I am getting benefits from the Lancaster, Pa Office well I was. That was the only thing getting us by.

The Florida state Supreme court also recently passed that mortgage companies cannot cancel foreclosure sales no matter what the borrower and mortgage company agree on. Just more bad deals! My local Workforce office is near a high traffic area, anyone interested in being there at the PH/TS One Stop Center office at SPC? I am not doing it alone!

I will get in my car and drive where my 1/4 tank of gas will get me..no money to put anymore in gas tank and than just live there wherever that may be…I’m serious..57 year old woman no where to go, no money left to live on….

All I can say it became a very sad day for me when my teenage daughter came home and said, “Mom-my friends said the people on unemployment are just Lazy and trying to suck from the government and you just need to get a job, I hate being poor…can’t you try harder. Do you know how scared I am that we will end up homeless? Please just get a job.. I explained there are MILLIONS of us that can not find jobs…NOT just me BUT how Dare our Government stereo-type US to Parents THAT tell their children THAT

Well, here I go. Almost 3 years unemployed, an Associate’s Degree under my belt (still in school) and the only place that wants me is Manpower for an $8.50 an hour factory job. I made twice that, with benefits, three years ago. I have no choice….I don’t want to lose my home. Will it be enough to sustain it? Probably not, but at least the state might help me now because I have a job. Without income, my $500 a month mortgage is unaffordable…however, if I lose my home, they’ll pay for low income housing in some 2 bedroom $%@&*% apartment. There’s something seriously wrong in this country, and “we the people” have to correct it, and fast.

I wish i could attend but i will be homeless by May 20th 2011. I have had no benefits since July 10 2010 and have been rejected by all jobs that i have been applying to. I am done! I cant believe that we are not able to stop this Government in their tracks. They are literally getting away with murdering us. I have lost my patients with them. They just stripped me of everything i tried to work for my whole life while paying their welfare checks via my taxes and getting nothing in return. I am 51 and since their are no rooms in the shelters i am forced to live in my car. Thanks Mr. Obama! Glad to see your concerned about our military men and women also! Not!!!

I can understand why congress approved the $350 billions on 2008 AND THEN AGAIN approved a second $350 billions on 2009, so that the big banks, auto industry and financial institution can have a safety net “financial bailout program” to help them along in their time of need….I can even understand the millions of dollars spent by big industry for perks to their executives, BECAUSE WE ALL BELIEVED THOSE ARE DESIGNED TO SAVE JOBS..Now I understand that’s $700 billions of tax payer’s money (working americans), I might be wrong of course….I kinda don’t understand why around 2009 to 2010 there were millions upon millions of americans that lost their jobs, after we gave the big industry 700 billions as a safety net..
NOW I really don’t understand why they think $16 billion is wwwaaayyyy to much for a safety net for MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own..didn’t we just lend $700 billions of our own tax money…Now that we lost our jobs we can’t be given a “safety net”..I think we got shafted..If you’re unemployed, post your point of view and god bless

The support that I’m asking from the Government is what my race of people unwilling were forced to extend to build this country for FREE. I’ve worked for 33 years to date. I’ve paid into the FICA system to support those folks on the American soil who were in need and those that were scamming the system. Now I ask for HELP an HELPING HAND. 30 months and no job.This is unprecedented in my lifetime of 54 years. We could always find some type of employment even though not in our field of work. We always added the skills that we learned from jobs that were unrelated to our training and marketed ourselves with those new set of skills.
Deparment of corrections personnel are working double shifts, police are breaking records with overtime and details, Fire fighters complain about “not enough money to protect public safety” have you ever gone by a firehouse? There not hurting.
The people that are hurting are the 99ers. Not one 99er ever expected to be out this long. We want employment period.The bailouts according to Tim Geghtner were nessasary to stop a deppression, well; with the 99ers ranks appraching 4,000,000 hows that working for you Tim?
Now is the time to send a clear message to the President, Congress, and the Senate, Not one more Paycheck, benifit, or pension check until the mess that this country is in is resolved. Give the people back their humble homes. Stop the Foreclosures! The Presidents Illegal Alien Aunt lived in public housing while hard working American men and women are being evicted from their homes.
Our Veterans are losing their homes and they too have no employment And when I hear statements about lazy Americans, we know that comes only from a person that has no military service and only took the protection provided by our military for granted. Go through bootcamp, serve in foreign countries, miss your family for long periods of time and feel the sacrifices.

It is perplexing that many of our elected officials believe that those of us on unemployment and particularly the 99ers are living a cream puff life. The amount of weekly compensation I get from the District of Columbia is chump change compared to what I earned at my job 2 years ago. I am now living in a cheap motel and have to wonder what is going to happen now when the last 20 weeks of EUI runs dry. It also doesn’t help that I am 69 years old and get nothing in the way of replies to the thousands of jobs I have applied for. And I have two degrees….overqualified is the word I suppose. Someone on here said something about the “plot to eliminate the middle class”. I for one, believe it and it is already running full steam ahead.

Need more people to call!
