Prosecutors promise thorough probe of police killing of teen

DENVER (AP) — A passenger who was in a car when a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed by Denver police has disputed authorities’ account of her death, saying officers opened fire before one of them was struck by the vehicle.

The passenger, speaking late Tuesday to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because of safety concerns, said her friend, Jessica Hernandez, lost control of the vehicle because she was unconscious after being shot.

Police have said the Monday morning shooting in a residential alley came after Hernandez drove a stolen vehicle into one of them. Prosecutors on Tuesday promised a thorough probe of the shooting as a small group of angry protesters demanded swift answers and called for a special prosecutor to investigate the death.

The shooting occurred amid a national debate about police use of force fueled by racially charged episodes in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City. It was also the fourth time in seven months that a Denver police officer fired into a moving vehicle after perceiving it as a threat, and the city’s independent police monitor now says he will investigate the department’s policies and practices related to shooting at moving vehicles, which he said poses unique safety risks.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson offered no new details about the case on Tuesday, citing the department’s open investigation. The shooting happened after an officer was called to check on a suspicious vehicle, Chief Robert White has said. A colleague arrived after the officer determined the car had been reported stolen. Police have said the two officers approached the car on foot when Hernandez drove into one of them, and they both then opened fire.

The car’s passenger said police had surrounded the car in the alley, and Hernandez was trying to flee, attempting to dive around one of the squad cars. The officers came up to the car from behind and fired four times into the driver’s side window, narrowly missing others inside, the passenger said.

Hernandez wrecked the car into a fence after she was shot, according to the witness. Police said the officer suffered a leg injury for which he was treated at a hospital and released. Officers with their guns drawn then pulled people out of the car, including Hernandez, who they handcuffed and searched.

The passenger was unaware the vehicle was stolen and provided only vague details about what the group of teenagers was doing earlier in the night. By law, police are allowed to use force to stop and overcome the resistance of another person. They can use it to match the force and overcome it.

Both officers involved in the shooting have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the investigation.

  1. It’s those terrorist little girls that cops have no other option than to shoot these most dangerous individuals. Give yourselves a pat on the back pigs, get your badge of courage, and sleep well knowing that your actions made us safer you F’N cowards!

  2. It raises the question. When the police atempt or do run over the citizen with there cars. For so much as speaking to them on the street, or for just standing on there own property. Do we the citizen have the right to gun them down for such? Or is that just another case of well were the police and were allowed to. I would also like to know if we have the right to return home safe and un beat or murdered by the police. For so much as comeing in sight of them. Or is the right to return home safe. Only reserved for the American police as a right? I ask this because I have had the Aerican olice try to run over me with there car. Just for standing on my own property in America. And have been beat on the street for so much as speaking to a cop. So I do wonder about such and my safty around the murdering things.

  3. Let’s wait until the facts are in before we canonize or demonize. There are lots of youthful drug thug cartel gangs between Denver and Juarez and these youngsters might not have been unknown to the police. If the lassie was driving a stolen car, there might be more to the story than the passenger is telling (or being quoted). Remember, illegals have carte blanche here now.
We also need to bear in mind the number of malicious “tips” that have been given to police by liars, which they choose not to investigate, and grievous bodily harm has resulted.
What with the Soros-sponsored “Kill a Cop” agenda in play, it is incumbent upon the media to get all the facts. Otherwise, From the Trenches is just as bad as Soros.
The Mail often is guilty of Yellow Journalism.

    1. “Otherwise, From the Trenches is just as bad as Soros”, what does that mean?
We bring articles to this site for discussion in a quest for the truth.
Do you have any additional facts you want to bring to the discussion?
These cops are on a murder spree across this country. Until that stops, the assumption must be for the worst, as anything less these days can get you killed by these private police forces, which no matter what else, are absolutely a running violation of the people’s Bill of Rights and acts of treason which equate to war against the American people.
Never try to coerce us here on this site, you won’t like how it turns out.

    2. “Let’s wait until the facts are in before we canonize or demonize.”

The facts are in. Where have you been keeping your head buried? We’re seeing another cop murder an innocent person every goddamn day, and if you want to stick of for these sadistic pieces of trash, you can get what they have coming too.

Why do you defend them? Have they ever done anything to help, or protect you, or is your brainwashed mind still influenced by the crap that’s on TV?

We’re seeing this happen all across the country. It’s not a matter of “one bad apple”. Terrorizing the U.S. population has become official policy, and this is confirmed by how they’re all let off the hook for obvious, cold-blooded murders. Just ask the prosecutor in Albuquerque, NM. She’s being terrorized for trying to prosecute one of them for a cold-blooded murder that was caught on videotape. Pull your head out of your ass and try to overcome your life of brainwashing. The facts are in, for this case and many others. Cops lie to cover each others crimes every goddamn day, and the kid in the car has absolutely no motive to do so.

The facts are in because they’ve been caught doing it a thousand times, and if you can sit there and defend these bastards, it can only be because you’re: 1. an idiot 2. brainwashed by Zionist media. 3. have some kind of homosexual attraction to men in blue.

Wake up, and try to get a grip on reality.
