Sovereign Movement supporter gunned down by three police officers

Lewis PollardFRUITA, CO – The Mesa County Coroner has released the name of the man killed early Saturday by three officers of the Fruita Police Department.

Lewis Pollard, 61, of Fruita, Colorado, was pronounced dead at the scene of what officers have described as a DUI stop gone wrong. Officers say they tried to pull Pollard over but he refused to stop. Pollard was shot around 12:50 a.m. on what neighbors have described as his front lawn.

According to local news reports and to recordings of police scanner traffic, there are conflicting stories of what occurred, and what led up to the shooting. Pollard, a known activist and supporter of what is coming to be known as the Sovereign Citizens Movement, is believed to be disabled and physically incapable of running the distance alleged by police in their reports. A Critical Incident Team made up of staff from the Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado State Patrol, is currently investigating this shooting.

Mesa County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Heather Benjamin says a statement “will be released sometime Monday.”

  1. LOL, once again the Co. Bureau of Investigation and the State Patrol are investigating the police. Nothing will ever happen to the cops responsible for this shooting/murder by cop.

    1. Nope, they will just get away with it.

You know, I don’t know how the cops think this will continue to go on and why they don’t think that the people will just continue to take it and not get back at them after they have murdered, beaten and harassed so many innocent people. I mean don’t those thoughts ever run through their little donut heads? Do they really think that the people will just ignore all of that trauma and it will all just go away? And when (NOT IF) it does happen, would they really be stupid enough to be surprised by it? I mean really.

They’ll eventually learn that, “what goes around, comes around”.

      1. Sorry. Retribution hasn’t happened yet. I do not expect it to. Unless reports of retribution do not make it to the news.

  2. At the moment they hit soft targets to get people to accept there tactics as time goes on payback will become more the norm and family we deal with it . There are no good police (code enforcement officers ) left now so they are all game.

  3. The citizens of Mesa County, CO deserve whatever the criminal PD metes out to them as long as they don’t wipe out the current PD and replace it with a non criminal entity.
