State legislators in Rhode Island and Maine will announce bills tomorrow to legalize recreational marijuana, a spokesperson for the Marijuana Policy Project announced today.
Rhode Island Rep. Edith Ajello and Maine Rep. Diane Russell will hold a conference call tomorrow with the Marijuana Policy Project to announce the legislation.
MPP says that “similar proposals will be submitted in at least two other states — Vermont and Massachusetts.” A ballot iniative legalizing medical marijuanapassed in Massachusetts last week with more than 60 percent of the vote. Maine voters approved medical marijuana in 2009. The Rhode Island legislature passed medical marijuana legislation earlier this year.

I guess when your economy, infrastructure and social programs are in the sh!tter, let’s have Reefer Madness! I’m all for Legalization of Weed, but isn’t this blinding the public of the real issues? Kinda like b!tching about cream in your coffee during a drone attack.
Positives out of this would be less incarceration and a new economic niche created. I’m sure the super restrictive controls & taxes will be placed on pot by these greedy bastards to compensate for lost revenue elsewhere.
I agree with you completely on your coffee analysis there. It’s ridiculous.
500,000 to 750,000 Americans arrested every year for hemp crime. That’s not just a national disgrace, it’s a national holocaust. No wonder people are fed up with the drug warriors, self serving, bs.
Well,
It would reduce taxpayers money going to private prisons by 12+ percent:
http://norml.org/news/2007/11/21/decriminalizing-pot-will-reduce-prison-population-have-no-adverse-impact-on-public-safety-study-says
But,
I agree with the concern over taxation and legalization through the state, because where would the money go? To our freedom? To our children’s future?
Or to special interest and corporate greed as per usual???
Peace…
Good God it’s about time. This whole pot thing is so retrograde it’s an
embarrassment. Love to know just how many users and growers are actually behind bars..and who is making the money by keeping it illegal.
One only hopes that, like prohibition, this too will pass. Till then we must keep up the pressure on our inane legislators, who are the real criminals…..
Yes, Please do keep up the pressure on Legislators for Weed while the Criminals rob, plunder & enslave the public in other ways. You all will look mighty pretty sitting in a FEMA Camp huffing on your Tommy Chong custom bong. Hell’s Bells, maybe they’ll even give you free weed for your stay.
What is up BentSpear, are you being sarcastic or what. Just because ya smoke herb doesn`t mean your a criminal! WHAT THE FU*K DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAID in you last comment ———— ” You will all look mighty pretty sitting in a FEMA Camp huffing on your Tommy Chong custom bong. Hell`s Bells, maybe they`ll even give you free weed for your stay”. ———————————————————————– Well If That Is The Way You Think BENTSPEAR – YOU FUC*ER – GO FUC* YOURSELF. FUC* YOU BENTSPEAR YOU ASS HOL* ————P. f`n S. BentSpear If you were serious about what I commented on to you -Then I can see why you reffered to that POS Reffer Madness show – I bet you believe everything thata was said there too don`t ya. ————– If I am wrong BenSpear – I appolize – but what you seem to support at 3:19pm. I don`t think so. If I am right about you then F` YOU bentspear !!!!!!!! If I am wrong , then I am sorry. You check out your comments and think abouit it at 3:19PM BentSpear.
digger, I DO support Legalization without taxation or regulation. And I don’t believe anyone is criminal in its use. The problem I have, there are more higher priority rights issues to get over first than making legalization of pot a top priority.
digger, if that’s your single incentive for being so Patriotic, then you’ve actually got into this for your own self interests. Complete Legalization of Marijuana is a single issue in a multitude of issues in War for Freedom & Liberty. Winning any one SINGLE issue while compromising the rest, isn’t “Victory”.
As for “Reefer Madness crap”…it’s a corny cliché movie that is a fine example of people’s ignorance & stereotyping of users.
The point I was expressing is that while efforts and resources a being put into Legalization of Marijuana, other more serious threats are moving into place that could/likely make the Legalization moot.
As for your rant & apology, save it for someone who deserves it.
Apparently you don`t deserve it my appologize that is – screw that so F. UUUUU. POS!!!!!!!!!!!!, BENTSPEAR not a reant there !!, bitch! I know exactly what the laws do I got sent away for herb back in the 60`s and I never even sold even so much as a joint. I went from the realy hard core drugs to herbs. Yea BentSpear I had some medical probs when I was less than 6 mo.s old and I was strung out on a lot of heavy drugs that they do not even prescribe any more in this good country we?, live in – so I do know more than most of the anti-holey rolin` FUC*ers know about what I say!!!!!!! NO I DO NOT APPOLIZE TO THOSE LIKE YOU – IT IS YOU TYPES THAT SHOULD APPOLIZE TO THOSE LIKE ME!!! I was one of those that had to pay the price f or those that think herb is bad. I suffer everyday because of these bull shit laws, and it is those that will read statements like yours that are the prob. and you know it BentSpear!!!. I cannot hope/wish for the worst for those like you as it has been those – like you – that have denied me my freedom and wellbeing. G.T.H. BentSpear. I actualy thought more of ya. Lost a lot of that though. Good people never change – and I do not change! – I Bet You Have though BentSpear!!!!!!!!!!
So be it, digger. Opinions vary. Have a great day/night.
Sorry BentSpear, – refering to your second paragraph. Being patriotic has nothing to do with it one bit! unless you are acting like one of those pinko leo`s. By the way- did you do your patriotic duty – HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess I am not a patriot am I BentSpear. At least I am not a self-rightous double talker like most of those that did do the – cough cough – right thing and vote. And most of those that did vote will be bitchin` about that laws now. By the way BentSpear – I guess you must be supporting all of these gooooood paaaatttrrrrioootiicc laaaaaws now aren`t ya Mr patriot bentspear? How does it feel to be a all american good patriotic law abidding american citizen that locks people like me and others. Land of the free you know – only if ya agree with them eh? Not my turn!!! JUST A LITTLE OF MY SARCASM TOWARDS YOU BENTSPEAR!!!
For digger’s #2 para. No, I did not vote. As for pinko LEO, not even close except on the opposite side of the fence. For not being a Patriot, no accusation from here. But there are “Patriots of Convenience” and azzholes who bait. BTW, sorry to hear you got nailed in the 60′s. We all lost some skin back then. I don’t recall ever having doings with a arrest then denying anyone’s freedom, but I did help others out on bail to freedom. My mind & voice was & still in favor of decriminalizing pot. As for changing, no…adapting yes. Constant assessment is necessary to stay ahead of the evil bastards. So label me with whatever fits your jar & do all the supposition you desire.
BTW digger, just because it will, pray, be legal, it will still not prevent employer discrimination of users. There is movement s in several States that will make users ineligible for any Governmental Grants, assistance & student loans. None of these issues have been addressed yet. I’m a staunch defender of what a person does on their own property is their own business. Get tunnel vision during a War & you will lose. Staying focused, concentrating and enduring wins them.
If you only knew BentSpear. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes BentSpear – I crossed my eyes and I know about tunnel vissions – I didn`t grow up yesterday. I have never changed!!! I KNOW HOW TO SEE.!!! Very few know how to “see”!
AH,Grasshopper, very few know how to see.Because they have been blinded by public education. It is the free will of the individual as well as the obligation of the unindoctrinated to define true vision. That’s why I feel that free markets are essential and bankers are irrelivant.
