Texas Professor To America: You Can’t HANDLE Gun Ownership

Burning_ConstitutionThe Daily Caller – by Scott Greer

The deadly Sunday biker battle at a Waco, Texas breastaurant has convinced one University of Texas at Austin professor that Americans aren’t cut out for the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms.

John Traphagan, a professor of religious studies and anthropology at UTA, wrote in an op-ed for The Dallas Morning News that the most overlooked security threat to this country is its “own heavily armed population” and that America’s culture does not “lend itself well to allowing the proliferation of guns.”

“Americans do not seem to be able to handle gun ownership in a way that permits maintenance of a civil society,” Traphagan stated.

“There is simply no need for a civilized society to tolerate the type of gun-related violence that Americans seem to accept as normal,” the professor continued. “Other modern industrial countries have realized, in some cases long ago, that it is unnecessary for people in a free society to have easy access to guns.”

He also dismissed notions that making it easier for citizens to purchase firearms would make society safer. In this professor’s opinion, only gun control would make America “more secure.”

“The solution to gun-related crime is not further arming the public,” Traphagan declared. “It involves enacting comprehensive gun control laws that prohibit many forms of gun ownership, significantly curtailing or eliminating access to and the ability to purchase guns, and implementing programs in which the government confiscates or purchases illegal guns already in circulation among the public.”

He concludes, “our proven inability to handle widespread gun ownership suggests strongly that the way to do this [solve the issue of gun violence] is to deeply restrict access to and ownership of most types of guns.”

Even though, Traphagan is confident that this will resolve America’s apparent gun problem, a 2014 study by a Quinnipiac University professor showed that in states that instituted measures that restricted gun ownership — such as banning concealed-carry and the purchase of assault rifles — there was either no substantial effect on firearm-related murders or the states saw the number of gun-related deaths go up.

The study concluded that “restrictive concealed weapons laws may cause an increase in gun-related murders at the state level.”

  1. Communist propaganda. One could argue that if some folks are irresponsible with arms then they are only following their programming and emulating what they see on tv. “I like to hold my nine sideways when I shoot people because it looks cool!” So who’s doing the programming professor?
Someone also forgot to tell the professor that if any shootings did take place in Waco, they were all done with shotguns fired by the pigs.

  2. Agreed, more communist double speak, from a traitor being paid to spew it. I wonder how he feels about all the police who did the shootings, and engage in torture of the American people?

  3. Typical male of academentia, writing something in the hopes of getting laid.

Jock strap there much professor ?

  4. I don’t expect that this professor’s opinion will be very popular here, but there’s an important lesson to be taken from this:

All colleges and universities in America are firmly under Zionist control, and any professor who’s not chiming in with the Zionist propaganda goals is out of a job. (that’s why they eliminated “tenure” many years ago)

It doesn’t matter what their field of specialty is. Economists, doctors, geologists, engineers, and lawyers will all be jumping on the Zionist propaganda bandwagon in order to keep their jobs, and there seems to be some recent pressure on them to publish this kind of trash.

This is important to note, because a large segment of the U.S. population will look to academia for sensible opinions, only to have Zionist lies reinforced. What this means to you is that if you see the university label applied to anything (Harvard Law Review, MIT research papers, Johns Hopkins medical studies, etc.) take it with a grain of salt, and question everything they’re telling you.

When you see their college degrees listed near their name, (BS, PhD), know that in all likelihood, you’re being lied to.

This article is a perfect example of someone’s academic credentials being used to shovel obvious BS, for obvious reasons.

  5. Someone should inform John Traphagan that there are plenty of “gun free” Communist countries he can go live in. His Communist brand of propaganda and programming is neither wanted nor tolerated by American Nationals.

  6. And this is why no one reads the Dallas Morning News. I’m surprised the damn thing is still in business. No one in Dallas reads their propaganda and John can hang by a hemp rope for high treason for all I care. TRAITOR!!! 😡

So he’s a professor of religious studies and anthropology. UT Austin or not, a penguin can do his job teaching subjects like that. And he expects those tiny credentials to be someone worthy enough to talk about guns or to tell us we should be giving up our Rights. He’s nothing more than a Commie with words and lines taken right out of the Commie playbook.

Let’s see, religious studies = JEWS and MUSLIMS and anthropology = COMMUNISM.

Yep, that says it all. As a matter of fact, aren’t these two subjects the exact same ones that Barry studied. Imagine that!
