Good article, Grin! When I was in junior high school back in
the 50’s, we were taught about this in our history class.
In addition, we were taught that the 1611 Authorized King James Bible was the most perfect piece of English literature ever written, with
“Pilgrim’s Progress” by Bunyan being second.
While I am at it, we sang Christian hymns in chorus class, as well as
the old patriotic, beautiful songs. And we started the day with prayer,
and the Pledge of Allegiance.
My, how things have changed. And look at our country now.
It never ceases to amaze me that the most potent force in western civilization is the most maligned. It’s like saying that the Constitution is responsible for all the USA’s problems. (FEMA, BLM, FRB, etc. etc.)
Folks just love to kick the s*** out of Catholicism because 1) it makes them feel good because they need to reject revealed truth to cover their own shortcomings; 2) Catholics won’t fight back as other religious groups will (i.e. they don’t issue fatwas if Jesus is insulted and they don’t brutalize, decapitate & cannibalize non-believers); 3) it’s easy to find Catholic sinners, especially since the institution’s stated purpose is the salvation of souls (the Alinsky Method of holding the opposition to their own higher standards); 4) it’s more fun to blame the institution than the perp.
Any fool can see that not only the Catholic Church has had its share of evil men (especially the pedophiles & apostates since Vatican II), but it is only fair to point out that every bureaucratic organization attracts them like flies on stink. Evil people lust after power. Yes, the Church has had its share of evil men, but it has had an abundance of righteous, holy, saintly, scholarly, articulate and humble men. Credit where credit is due, please. It has also had its seasons of heresy and apostasy but the truth has always survived. Currently, the truth is in eclipse.
The King James bible may be a lovely piece of literature, but has anyone ever questioned why God waited 1500 years for it to be produced (and then based on the Vulgate) while letting those “evil” Catholics run the show for so long? Martin Luther and Henry VIII were scarcely paragons of virtue… they had a tendency to think with the wrong head and then blame Rome for their shortcomings.
Most folks are unfamiliar with the Inquisitions. There was the Spanish Inquisition and the Church Inquisition. Correct me if I am wrong, but only one person was executed in the Church Inquisition. The Spanish Inquisition was something else. Many are unaware that Spain was the only nation in Europe at that time to allow Jews to become citizens. The caveat was that they had to convert to Catholicism. Many did and saints such as Teresa of Avila, Dominic, and John of the Cross were produced. Others chose to ostensibly convert but they remained crypto Jews and some of them were less then good citizens. When their perfidious schemes were exposed, the Spanish Inquisition resulted.
Some of the crypto Jews fled north to the welcoming arms of William of Orange where they wrote “yellow press” tracts attacking Spain, the surrogate for Rome. Just like our own MSM, they lied to feather their own nests.
Western Civilization needs to credit the Catholic Church for its role in making it happen. It also needs to recognize that the Church was put in eclipse as a potent force for good since Vatican II. It was infiltrated, Satan was enthroned in the Vatican in 1963, and it’s been downhill ever since for Western Civilization and the Church because it is no long the moral bulwark of Western Civilization.
Tell you what, Bleh. Watch this entire video (I have it on dvd), and then come back and tell us what a wonderful institution that POS Satanic Catholic church is. It’s ALWAYS been a Satanic creation.
btw, I was raised Catholic, altar boy and all, so I’m qualified to make an informed evaluation.
