I seem to remember from 40 years ago learning that the people were permitted to keep the shotguns because they were so useless against the redcoat’s muskets and cannons.

(That’s not entirely true, but I’m not getting any decent groups at more than 100 yards)
I want to be able to hit a saucer at 300 yards (Don Boetcher’s suggestion for a goal to achieve), and I’m not even close to that point yet, so I’m putting my faith in the scatter-gun for now.
