Two Dead After A Police Standoff In An RV Park

After a 4 hour standoff with police at an RV park in Canon City, Colorado, police shot and killed a man identified as Stanley Watson, 72, who was threatening to shoot his wife Marsha, 60, and their dog Dakota. The couple managed the RV campground they lived at.

On Tuesday night, police arrived at the Canon City RV Campground after they received a call from Stanley, who told officers he was suicidal. “As they pulled up, they saw the body of an adult woman lying on the ground directly in front of this motor home. She had been shot in the head,” Canon City Police Chief Paul Schultz told KKTV.

Stanley refused to leave the RV and wouldn’t speak to anyone besides a female negotiator, who he talked to for 10 minutes. Despite his apparent refusal to communicate with police, he allegedly posted on Facebook, “17 years of marriage down the tube. Killed Dakota and [name redacted] tonight. Now in police standoff with swat outside the door. Hope they kill me!”

Shortly before 3 a.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement officials shot pepper spray into the home. “As soon as that projectile hit the window, instantaneously the door to the motor home swing open and he [the suspect] was standing in the doorway. … In each hand was a handgun and he began firing each handgun at the officers,” the police department said.

“The suspect was shot and killed, and fell inside the motor home,” said Canon City Police Chief Paul Schultz. Canon City police officer Kevin Easter shot the fatal bullet and he has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, according to The Pueblo Chieftain.

Authorities went inside the home and found Dakota, a 13-year-old American Eskimo dog, had been shot in the neck but was still alive. Dakota is expected to recover and will be up for adoption.

Sources told KKTV that the retired couple didn’t have any unusual marriage problems that they were aware of but a family member said Stanley’s cancer had recently returned.

Senile, or WAY too much t.v. ‘programming’. Looks like CAS to me.

Had he been serious about shooting those cops (and he SHOULD have been), he wouldn’t have been stupid enough to fire from zero cover, or with 2 firearms at once.

Probably watched “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” one too many times.

    Shame about the wife, though.

  2. He’s a moron, and I’m glad he’s dead, because he didn’t even have enough sense to take a couple pigs with him.
