Virginia Governor to Bypass Legislature to Change Gun Laws, Just Like Obama

Godfather Politics – by Dave Jolly

Barack Obama has set the precedent for bypassing Congress and changing laws on his own, even though the US Constitution forbids him to do so. Our Founding Fathers specifically wrote the Constitution in such a way to avoid the executive leader from assuming dictatorial powers, but Obama has ignored our founding and governing document and has assumed the role of Congress in a number of matters.

Following in the footsteps of his hero, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is trying to bypass the state legislature and change an existing law without anyone’s approval. As reported by the Washington Post:

“The NRA accused McAuliffe (D) of breaking the law in blocking citizens from bringing guns into public places such as Division of Motor Vehicles offices and hinted that the battle could play out in the courts.”

“ ‘The law already states where Virginians can legally carry their firearms and Governor McAuliffe does not have the legal authority to change that on his own,’ NRA spokesman Lars Dalseide said last week. ‘This is nothing more than political grandstanding by an anti-gun governor desperate to deliver a victory to the Michael Bloomberg-funded gun-control movement.’ ”

“Millions from the former New York mayor’s gun control group helped fuel a partisan clash over gun control during recent legislative elections. But a looming showdown with gun rights advocates shows the issue is here to stay in a swing state that both parties have called crucial to victory in 2016.”

“ ‘Virginia is really ground zero in the gun debate today,’ said Adam Winkler, a UCLA law professor who wrote ‘Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America.’ ‘It’s a purple state. Terry McAuliffe has staked out a very strong position in terms of gun control.’ ”

McAuliffe’s actions were prompted after the shooting of two journalists earlier this year. The governor has been using the support of the parents of the slain journalists, Barack Obama and former NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg has been spending many millions of his own dollars to rid America of every gun, except those in the hands of law enforcement and government agents.

These actions have nothing to do with reducing gun related crimes but everything to do with efforts to strip Americans of the 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms. As I’ve pointed out in earlier posts, cities and states with the strictest gun control laws are among the nation’s leaders in gun violence. Most of the mass shootings take place in gun free zones. There are a number of incidents where American citizens have used their legally permitted concealed weapons to thwart crimes or stop them in action, saving many lives.

Hopefully, the NRA will be successful in stopping or reversing McAuliffe’s illegal actions.

Liberal politicians are like liberal Christians. They don’t want to live by the strict wording of the Constitution or Bible. They pick and choose what they want to accept and what they want to ignore. Liberal Christians ignore the many warnings against homosexuality or sex outside of marriage. Liberal politicians ignore the text of the Constitution that separates the powers of the three branches of government as well as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th and 10 Amendments.

The end results are similar. With liberal politicians it leads to the destruction of our nation. With liberal Christians, it ends with eternal damnation.

  1. “Liberal politicians ignore the text of the Constitution that separates the powers of the three branches of government as well as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th and 10 Amendments.”

This is going off on a slight tangent, but it needs to be said. “Conservative” politicians ignore the Constitution just as much as “liberals” do. Team Red is somewhat better on the 2nd Amendment (though far from acceptable) but is generally worse on the 4th and 5th Amendments than Team Blue.

On the 1st Amendment, I’d say both teams are equally bad. Team Blue is full of people who want to outlaw speech that’s offensive to racial minorities, homos, and other specially protected groups. But Team Red has its own variety of political correctness that it wishes to enforce by law: disrespect to Old Gory (sic), criticism of US wars of choice while “our” troops are carrying them out, pretending to be a veteran, etc. So Team Red is just like Team Blue in its desire to suppress speech or writing it finds offensive.

Similarly, both teams generally support the War of Terror, the War on Drugs, Zionism, and numerous other evils that have rotted the US from the inside out.

    1. When ever I read or hear someone quote ‘The Constitution’, they only quote the 10 Articles added a few years later. The body of the Constitution was created behind closed door 6 weeks before the official convention and shoved down the throats of the delegates.
There is a lot of ambiguity to the Constitution which permits it to be interpreted any way the Elite in Government want. The Government gave itself the sole authority for interpreting the Constitution through the Supreme Court.

      1. True, they can and do interpret the Constitution “creatively” to suit their own ends. This practice has played a central role in the assault on our rights from the legal front. It’s how we ended up with a government that allows guns to be banned in certain areas (like NYC) while declaring a supposed constitutional right to force someone to bake a wedding cake for fags in violation of the baker’s religious convictions.

However, we who are dedicated to personal freedom and justice don’t embrace free speech, gun rights, etc., merely because these are listed in the Bill of Rights. That would be putting the cart before the horse. I embrace the Bill of Rights only because it specifically enumerates individual freedoms that history shows us to be in need of protection against overreaching government. In other words, even if the Bill of Rights had never been written, the rights listed therein would still exist in the minds of any believer in self-ownership and justice.

  2. When is everyone going to wake up to the fact, that the “hard left”, is going to accept nothing, short of a gunfight, to save the Constitution? Folks, it is one thing to talk tough, on what you will do when the time comes. It is quite another to take aim and squeeze the trigger on traitors. The time left for the Big Decision, is limited. The extreme left-wing and their praetorian guards, are in your face TODAY! Shall America surrender without a shot being fired? We are up to our teeth in treason. When is enough, enough?

    1. “When is enough, enough?”

When the scumbag commie jews finally figure out we’re not GIVING UP our guns for ANY reason.

That will leave them with only ONE option.

And believe me, they’ll use it at that point.

  3. “These actions have nothing to do with reducing gun related crimes but everything to do with efforts to strip Americans of the 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms.”

As do ALL (illegal) gun ‘laws’.

    Merely more INFRINGEMENTS to ignore.
