Who Need Guns? Just Call 911

WND – by Joseph Farah

Maybe you’re one of those people who doesn’t think you’ll ever need a gun – or want one.

After all, all one has to do in 21st century America is call 911 when you’re faced with danger, right?

The first time I realized I needed a gun was as a young man living in a nice section of Los Angeles. It was not the kind of neighborhood in which one expected to experience a home invasion. Yet, one night, that’s what I was faced with. It started with a knock on the door – a very solid, wooden door with only a peephole that permitted me to check out the visitor.

I did not recognize the visitor, and asked him politely to identify himself. Instead, he started pounding on the door and demanding to be let in.

Eventually he began to batter the door with rocks and other objects.

So I called 911.

An hour or so later, long after the intruder got tired of battering the door and left of his own accord, the LAPD sent over a female police officer to check it out. An hour later.

That’s when I decided to get my first gun.

My second lesson came shortly thereafter when a Satan-worshipping Hispanic gang, associated with Night Stalker Richard Ramirez, surrounded and trashed my car one night while I was at work in downtown L.A. When I entered the parking lot through a dark alley, the gang members were whooping it up around bonfires, the air thick with marijuana smoke and the asphalt covered with broken liquor and beer bottles.

Every window in my vehicle was smashed. But my only chance, as an unarmed citizen, was to make a run for the car and hope it started quickly. It did. I peeled off well above the speed limit leaving behind dozens of gang members who pursued on foot, hurling rocks and bottles at me until I was safely beyond their reach.

I could have been killed that night. But, had I been armed, probably a single gunshot in the air would have prevented any threat.

A few years later, after I moved from L.A., there was a much more dramatic incident that should be a lesson to all Americans about why they not only need guns, but need heavy-duty firepower.

It was April 1992 when four LAPD officers were acquitted in the videotaped beating of Rodney King following a high-speed chase.

Riots broke out all over the city. White motorists were ripped from their vehicles and beaten. Entire neighborhoods were under siege from roving gangs of mostly black men.

One of those neighborhoods was Koreatown.

When black looters attacked the Korean shops, the LAPD retreated – and the cops didn’t come back for 24 hours. Meanwhile, Korean storeowners and homeowners were on their own. So they got on the roofs of their shops and homes, armed with shotguns and rifles. They fired hundreds of rounds mostly into the air and the ground when rioters approached.

The rioters got the message. They moved on to victimize less prepared and less well-armed communities. Koreatown was saved. There is little question it would have been nothing but ashes had the Korean residents not acted to save themselves and their property.

Others were not so lucky. More than 60 people were killed and 4,000 injured in the six days of rioting and looting in Los Angeles.

Do people who want to ban guns ever think of scenarios like this?

Do they really believe they can depend on the government to protect them at all times?

I just can’t even comprehend that mentality.

What’s wrong with Americans?

Where were the cops when Sandy Hook Elementary School was invaded?

Where were they at Columbine?

Why is it that some people just don’t understand that responsible citizens not only have a right to defend themselves and their loved ones, but an absolute duty to do so?

I can understand the point of view of people in government who act irresponsibly and violate the Constitution daily not wanting to see an armed citizenry. What’s difficult for me to understand is why any citizen would want to be totally dependent on government and police for their own protection.

Government has proven over and over again it is not up to task. It’s not good at much – including protecting the public. God bless the police, but, let’s face it: The main responsibility of cops is to respond to crime – usually when it’s too late. Then they take reports and see that the mess is cleaned up.

Are Americans too stupid to get that?

What am I saying? They re-elected Barack Obama.

  1. That’s right.

Remember good citizens (sheeple): “When seconds count, the Police are only minutes away”.

  2. The tube has convinced the idiots that cops are “heroes”, always willing to risk their lives for our protection. Real crime victims know better. Whenever I move to a new city I head straight for the worst neighborhood, because that’s where the lowest rent is, and it’s never worse than where I grew up, so I’ve witnessed my share of crime.
Police answering a call intentionally WAIT until they’re sure the coast is clear before they arrive. To most of them it’s just a paycheck, with the added perks of occasional bribes, and robbery, and finishing their shift unharmed is their first priority. Anyone who waits around for cops to save them is an idiot.

  3. Yuri Lina in his In the Shadow of Hermes (2011) on youtube says that Literaturnaya Rossiya in 1992 reported that 147,000,000 Russians were murdered under Communism including those who died from induced starvation and during the civil war.

This would have been between 1918 and 1954.

Who were the ‘Russian’ Communists ? Well, with its imposition, thousands of Christian churches were destroyed, or converted to other uses like horse stables, but not a single Synagogue was touched.

  4. GROW UP !

a cops ‘job’ is reactionary NOT preventative !

it’s YOUR job to protect yourself and your family

they will come and count the bodies after you and your family have been murdered

remember most cops are cowards !

” Successful police officers were invariably childhood bullies or the bullies victims.”

people without the means to protect themselves are called victims .. . .

    1. Yep, you said it najhoa. I say the same thing. I bet that when or if they come to confiscate guns that a cop will still have his guns to take home with him so they will have a gun while off duty. I know that they are a few good cops out their but with so few good ones how can you trust any of them when 99% of them are dirty/bad cops.

  5. Unfortunately, I grew up in a gun-free atmosphere. Staring down the barrel of a 12 gauge with my young life flashing before me (yes, that does happen) was my motivation to purchase my first gun, a Colt .45 1911. Just showing it one time, tucked in my waistband, was enough to save me and my girlfriend from an unpleasant situation involving a small group of scumbags.

I cannot imagine why some people want to go through life defenseless and let themselves become victims.
