UPI – by Andrew V. PestanoCAIRO, Jan. 25 (UPI) — At least 16 people have died on Sunday after protesters and police clashed in demonstrations marking the fourth anniversary of Egypt’s revolution, part of the Arab Spring.
Security was tightened in major cities ahead of the anniversary. One police officer was among those killed.
Last year, dozens died in similar protests.
On Saturday, A 32-year-old woman was shot and killed with “non-lethal” shotgun pellets in a protest held by the Socialist Popular Alliance party to lay flowers in Tahrir Square, the epicenter of the 2011 revolution.

About 1,000 people marched in her funeral procession in Alexandria on Sunday.
Vice President of the Socialist Popular Alliance Medhat al-Zahid said she was “killed in cold blood.”
An investigation into her death has been launched.
