Three PLA Navy ships carrying hundreds of sailors arrived in Hawaii on Friday to join a search and rescue exercise with the US Navy during a rare visit intended to foster familiarity.
The guided missile destroyer Qingdao, a frigate and a supply ship were welcomed with performances by lion dancers and a children’s hula group. The ships carrying 680 officers and sailors will participate in the exercise tomorrow with the USS Lake Erie in waters off Waikiki and Diamond Head. The exercise was an important way for the two navies to share information about operations, so they do not misinterpret movements and potentially start a conflict, said Brad Glosserman, executive director of the Pacific Forum at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies.
“There are lots of places where our vessels could end up in proximity, and we want to make very sure that when that happens we have the best possible understanding of what the other side is doing and why,” he said.
The visit comes as Beijing continues to be wary about Washington’s strategic “rebalance” towards Asia, in which the navy is basing a majority of its ships in the Pacific and boosting ties with long-time allies such as Australia and Japan.
China sees the moves as an effort to counter its expanding military and contain its growing economic and political influence.
Chinese ships last visited the US in 2006, when the Qingdao and the Hongzehu stopped in Pearl Harbour and San Diego for communications drills, and search and rescue exercises off those coasts. The two nations last held a joint drill last year during an anti-piracy exercise off Somalia.
The People’s Liberation Army said the drills build on a June commitment by President Xi Jinping and US President Barack Obama to strengthen ties.
The navy said the visit was part of its continuing effort to develop relationships with foreign navies to build trust, encourage co-operation, enhance transparency and avoid miscalculation.
Rear Admiral Rick Williams, commander of US Navy Region Hawaii and the Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific, said the two navies were showing their commitment to a stable world by working together for the next several days.
“We are linked with you together in history, and we will be linked together in the future,” Williams said about China.
Rear Admiral Wei Gang, chief of staff, North Sea Fleet and head of the delegation, said there had been steady progress in Sino-US relations. “This time, I, together with all the officers and the men of the task group, entrusted by our Chinese government and the people, sailed all the way across the broad Pacific and brought here to our American friends the friendly feelings of the Chinese people and the People’s Liberation Army,” Wei said.
During the drills, sailors would practice turning ships at sea, conduct searches and rescues, and send small boats back and forth between ships, Williams said. US and Chinese helicopters will also work together.
Over the weekend, sailors will play basketball and soccer, attend receptions, and visit the USS Arizona Memorial and the decommissioned battleship Missouri, from the second world war.

Just what in the HELL is going on!!!?? Is anyone else confused as to why the Chinese Navy is doing drills with the US Navy at the same time that we are going to war and ready to blow each other’s asses out of the water with even the slightest fart that goes off in Middle East???
WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON WITH THIS WORLD??!!! So is this supposed to be the GOOD China military while the Chinese military in the Middle East is supposed to be the BAD China military? And then you have the GOOD Russians training on our soil and the BAD Russians in the Middle East. Finally you have the BAD Al-Qaeda that we have been fighting (or not) since 9/11 in Afghanistan and Iraq, yet we have the GOOD Al-Qaeda that we are fighting with against Syria.

I feel strongly we are being set up on all sides for invasion. Why were the American people not told of this? China and our Navy on joint exercise? Russia training with our military? Now it looks as if BO will wait and see on the “strike”? Syria agreed per Russia to allow there “WMD chemicals” to be under UN control. Federal Government Fiscal Year for 2014 is from October 1 2013 through September 30 2014. November 13-14 planned for EMP drill? Something really stinks I feel. Keep doing what you do, seems the time is getting close. I don’t feel good about this.
Exactly, Misty. This whole thing stinks to high hell. Something is not right about this whole war with Syria thing. All of the ships are in the Mediterranean and all other countries have their borders wide open for invasion or civil unrest or both. Everything is so focused on this WWIII thing that we are missing something. I know it. Something big is about to happen and it’s going to dwarf the Syrian situation. I just can’t figure out what it is and know that it’s practically under our noses and we just aren’t seeing it.
It’s like all the world’s a stage right now and the real power lies underground in the DUMBs or something. I have a bad feeling many cities in this country are going to be nuked and we are just sitting around waiting for it to happen. It’s driving me nuts.
Honestly, I feel a Star Wars Episode II and III going on here as it seems to be the only thing that can explain it. We have a global war with every major country’s own troops on the outside (separatist war), while the UN is under our noses and ready to attack and occupy all countries on the inside when we are not looking (the Grand Army of the Republic aka UN). I agree that our attention is being fully focused on Syria while everything in the US has been put on hold. The warnings from Napolitano and that douchebag Lindsy smells like sh!t This normally means that your on the path truth.
I worry about the broken arrow with the nukes. Its such a big piece of the puzzle, and while we are all so focused on Syria. Military personal would just be made to think that we may need them for this possible WIII incident (All top secret of course)….. Its perfect timing to move them without to much commotion.
They have done WAY too much prepping and investing for whatever they have planned here on the homeland. I think all the rat bastard players are in on it.
Yep, the broken arrows are on my mind, too. Do they honestly think that we are going to believe those nukes are for the Middle East? We don’t need them in the Middle East since Israel has them and basically even if we did, we would have them on the ships that are already in the Mediterranean. So these missing nukes are greatly on my mind and it worries me big time, as it should everyone else.
Well, we do know that the Financial System is to collapse and that will be a world wide societal breakdown to the max, that would be worse than Syria. A World War will most likely coincide with it. And I can only imagine that our grid would go down from EMP, and with that, all of the nuclear power plant would meltdown. Maybe, they are getting ready to bring the population down to Georgia Guidestone levels. All of that would do it, I believe.

True, but I was thinking more along the lines of full nuclear destruction NOT EMP destruction and therefore possibly killing everyone including the Russian troops, but I see what you’re saying. Your idea does make a little more sense. Guess I was over-thinking it. lol
I just wonder how many nukes went missing. We only had one whistle blower speak up…. its possible that other could have been moved also.
Another thing that weighs heavy on my mind is the warning of a natural disaster?
Okay, I’m going for broke on this one.
A massive tsunami along the eastern shore would be historic in the casualties that would occur. I watched an episode on the history channel a few years back about the Canary islands and how half the island will one day slam into the Atlantic and create a huge tsunami that would devastate the eastern shore. If they used nukes to activate this avalanche and create this tsunami it would be the perfect storm. Radiation is already in the water from Fukashima so the cover up is already in place.
The funny thing is I told my wife after seeing that episode years ago that if any terrorist would really want to create terror, they would use the Canary island to bring the biggest tragedy to the US.
I really hope I’m off on this one, but it goes along with the hints they are throwing at us.
Canary Islands? Hmm…never saw or heard about that. Can’t really comment on that one. But I agree in that I believe there are more than just one broken arrow out there. I’m thinking at least 3 with the way things are going these days. Don’t have any evidence to prove that though. Just my theory.

Today, I was wondering if all of those ghost cities built in China were not build to harbor all of the scum sucker parasites when they flee the nations of the world. Hey Smilardog. Good point and you have to realize that our government is not the only government that has DUMBs. My family in China all know that their government has DUMBs underneath Beijing and Shanghai. We just never hear about it here in the U.S. And don’t think that Japan doesn’t have one underneath Tokyo and even Russia has plenty of them, too. Trust me, the elite have a whole underground world underneath us just waiting to move into in the event of a nuclear war. Think of the “Resident Evil” movies and the underground facilities of the Umbrella corporation. You know, that ain’t fantasy. That shit is real.
I’ve wondered about who will ever occupy the Chinese ghost cities, too, Smilardog. My current guess is that a large portion of the Japanese population will move into them when Fukushima finishes melting down and they have to evacuate 40 million people from Tokyo. First, China may request a formal apology for the Rape of Nanking, that little incident in which the Japanese army killed 250,000 Chinese more or less just for the pure fun of it, since it served no real military objective.
Yeah, I heard talk of the Kuriel Islands off the of Russia also for the Japanese. But, when it all comes down to total SHTF, no one is going to help Japan, or the world would be there now.
You have to figure though, that the ghost town are for some kind of “planned refugees-fugitives from justice”, in the future that only they know about. Some kind of event.
By the way, they sailed all the way across the Pacific and the radiation caused by Fukushima that have now practically contaminated the entire Pacific and all around Hawaii did not contaminate their vessels or cause health problems for either side?
