‘Duck Dynasty’ star Phil Robertson suspended over anti-gay comments

Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has been suspended from the A&E reality series, following anti-gay remarks he made in an interview with GQ magazine.

In a statement, A+E Networks said he had been placed on indefinite hiatus.

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series ‘Duck Dynasty,'” the company said. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Robertson caused controversy with his comments, in which he grouped gays with “drunks” and “terrorists,” and said that they won’t “inherit the kingdom of God.”

Asked what he considered sinful, Robertson told the magazine, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there — bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

Robertson has described himself as a product of the ’60s who engaged in the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, but has since embraced Jesus Christ as his savior.

GLAAD excoriated Robertson for the interview, accusing him of pushing “vile and extreme stereotypes.”

“Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil’s lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe,” GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz said. “He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans — and Americans — who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil’s decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families.”

  1. Phil Robertson rates higher with me now.
Our young are continually being conditioned NOT to listen to anyone who can utter words of wisdom gained through experience. The modern media is being used by the unscrupulous to manipulate the young to listen only to the “State” or the representatives of the State. (And intimidate anyone who would speak the truth publicly)
Phil and his point of view represents the wisdom of those who have been there and done that, or at least have been able to weigh the facts and see the truth, that all the LGBT crap flying around is a lie to confuse those who are easily swayed by anything that goes against the wisdom of people who can speak the truth, like Parents or Grandparents.
“LGBT”, does this sound like the acronym for a terrible sandwich, to anyone else?

  2. I tried to find the email contact information for a&e. It has been taken down from their website. I wonder why. If anyone wants to call them, here is their number.
    A&E Corporate: 1-212-210-1400

  3. You can’t be on TV unless you’re promoting homosexuality. Do you really want your impressionable young children watching that crap?

Why don’t YOU take responsibility for your child’s education, both moral and academic, instead of turning it over to the Jews who are trying their best to turn him into a brain-dead, enslaved pervert?

Isn’t that a good beginning to being a decent parent?

    1. And if everyone’s a homo, isn’t prison the perfect place to be?
He’ll have a grand old time being a prison-industry slave.

  4. To hell with a&e
I sent My support directly to phil robertsonand his decent moral american family, hope you all do the same as its time to stand up and be counted against this unnatural filth that has invaded america.

Phil robertson YOU ARE THE MAN,I am so proud to have been watching you guys from the beginning. You and yours have been a fresh breeze into the immoral country we find ourselves in,knowing where you came from and thanking our CREATOR and His SON each and every show while have the nearly unheard of family meal. When I heard your refusal to allow the “bleeps” insinuating filth,my hat was off to you again, and your manly stand against their need to dismiss CHRIST from your dailey prayers lifted my esteem for you once more.
Now the latest “Stand up and be counted” against the filthy unnatural sodomite invasion we as a nation find ourselves confronted with compelled me a simple man living a simple life in the Hills of W Va (moved here from the filth that is Houston tx 20 yrs ago) to send a simple message of support to you and yours.Logic and truth are the 2 things the dark side just cant grasp as our Saviour explained “there is no truth in the sons of the father of lies” whether it matters to you or not the MAJORITY in the country SUPPORT you and your GOD mandated position, acroos the intewrnet you are the man and positive comments outweigh the filth 100 to 1.

  5. A&E is run by a bunch of wanna be transvestites, what the hell did you expect to happen? Phil is lucky A&E didn’t make him do an interview with Dennis Rodman inside of a all male strip club.

  6. I emailed a&e an email expressing my views on their communist anti Christian stance, it was not very nice, but I did remind them that Jesus did come to save the sinners and they had time to repent, though time is growing shorter! Then I emailed duck dynasty and told them that we are behind them 100% and we will pray for them and that we all need to stand for what is right!!! Amen Phil!

  7. Oh, the horrors!

Next thing you know he will leaving anti-gay letters on restaurant receipts for lesbian servers instead tips!

But seriously, did this guy didn’t know that GQ is the premier magazine for the homosexual male? And that giving this kind of interview to them is like walking into an NBA locker room and using the n-word?

  8. You know, I remember when I was a kid, there was this preacher on satellite that cursed and smoked cigars on on stage. He sang “There won’t be no shitheads in heaven”. He was exercising his 1st amendment rights. Yet, A&E, run by a bunch of supposed liberal, “tollerant” a-holes, can’t allow a man to simply express his opinion and beliefs? Funny how tolerance only goes one way and only when it is convienient for the immoral peices of shit who run the media in this country.

  9. 100% of these responses are SUPPORTING PHIL ROBERTSON ,I find it funny that not one queer has spoke up only decent normal unperverted Godly family oriented americans have stood beside this man and his family against the filthy perverted agenda of the commie invaders.

    ‘Duck Dynasty’ family releases statement

The Robertson family of “Duck Dynasty” fame has spoken out about the indefinite suspension of family patriarch Phil Robertson, who was pulled from the A&E reality show on Wednesday after making anti-gay comments in a GQ interview.

Also on TheWrap: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Phil Robertson: What
    Are His Legal Options?
In the statement, posted on the Duck Commander website, the family says that it “cannot imagine” going forward with the show if Phil isn’t aboard, and that it’s “in discussions” with A&E to determine what his suspension means for the future of the show.

In the statement, the family asserted that Phil “would never incite or encourage hate” and that they were “disappointed” in the suspension.

Also on TheWrap: ‘Duck Dynasty’ Fallout: GLAAD Reeling From Biggest Backlash in Years, Says Rep

They also said that Phil’s expression of his faith is his “constitutionally protected right.”

    Read the full statement below.

“We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of ‘Duck Dynasty.’ Again, thank you for your continued support of our family

Faye Vandendaele Glad someone finally has the guts to stand up for what is right. Everyday there is some story about gay marriage on the national news. You never see any stories about the gospel of Jesus. We support you Phil.

Paul Allen Pearson Screw A&E. Phil was asked a question and he answered it. He has every right to do that and offer his opinion. I can guarantee that the people that watch their show, watch it for the family man that Phil is and his family is. I think the family should just dump A&E and see how many tv executives come calling. Foolish thing of A&E to do. Whatever the buyout clause is, pay it and move on without A&E. It will end up being their loss. Stand your ground men, there are more on your side than aren’t.

Jan McAlhany We are all for the family. Phil is my hero for having the courage to speak of what he believes in so strongly. I didn’t watch the show the first two seasons and just started in the last 6 months. I was impressed at the family values and that you ended each show together in prayer.

Lynda May I believe in the freedom that we have in America to express our personal ideals and opinions without the intolerant desires of others to stop these freedoms simply because they disagree. When freedoms are allowed to be controlled by specific groups to suit their personal ideals, then we have failed as a free nation.

Janice Bender What happened to freedom of speech? This country was founded for religious freedom. My church also does not approve of gays. But it was ok for Miley Cyrus to do that disgusting dance?? A&E was not paying him for the interview with the magazine. Do they think they own him and can tell him what to think, believe, and say. I just might have to stop watching A&E.

Missy Martin Cochran Supporting Robertson family! Their Christian faith is a huge part of the appeal for me to watch the show. The bible should not be rewritten to go with worldly views. Their beliefs and opinions should not lead to suspension. When is freedom of speech a bad thing? If Lil’ Wayne can dance on the flag and Miley Cyrus grope herself on national television, why is it so wrong to state your own religious beliefs?

Elizabeth Thames Let not let this go, we must stand up for Phil’s. Rights as well as our own because it could be us next time, we must protect our rights. GOD BLESS AMERICA & GOD BLESS THE ROBERTSON FAMILY, GOD BLESS DUCK DYNASTY and A&E STAND UP FOR WHATS RIGHT!!!!!!!

Dan Marucha It’s awful funny that beliefs or opinions are only ok if they go along with what some groups agree with IE the “P c ” crowd ,last I heard this is a free country and Phil “IS” entitled to his , that does not mean he has to agree to follow those same beliefs, does not mean he hates these people ,he just does not conduct his life in this way,

Betty Perry Reed He has a right to his opinion and it his right to express it. It is not about what he said it is about the right of free speech. The media and the left would like nothing more than to close the show down because they do not want anything that is against their agenda. This show represents God, country and family values, that is far from their agenda.

God has been taken from so much in our country, which is why we are where we are, and if A&E wants to take them off it will BE Their LOSS!!! Walter Lehman It doesn’t really matter what Phil Said, he is entitled to his opinion just as a member of GLADD is entitled to theirs. This country is slowly becoming like Nazi germany where everyone has to think the same or be killed. GLADD, NAACP, etc all want others to have tolerance of their lifestyles and viewpoints and anyone that doesn’t agree with them is labeled as a homophobe or racist. Those are only labels, yet we treat people labeld like that as criminals. If you expect tolerance, you must also be tolerant of those who do not agree with you. All GLADD managed to do was set their cause back decades by being the exact thing they are trying to overcome. You can’t force everyone to share your viewpoints, all you can do is educate them. A racist has the right to be a racist, a homophobe has the right to be a homophobe, just as a GLADD member has the right to be the way they are. I hope the Robertsons take Duck Dynasty to another more tolerant network that doesn’t bow to the politically correct police. A&E and GLADD will be the big losers in this one.
