(Reuters) – A series of moderately powerful earthquakes struck off the coast of Oregonovernight and on Monday, but did not trigger tsunamis, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

On Monday, a magnitude 6.0 quake struck off the coast of the West Coast state at a depth of 8.1 miles (13 km) at about 1:11 p.m. local time. Earlier, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit at 3:46 a.m. at a depth of 9.3 miles (15 km).

A magnitude 5.8 temblor occurred just before midnight on Sunday at sea 280 miles (450 km) west of Yachats at a depth of 6 miles (10 km), the USGS said.

      1. Holy Skit! I was just “thinking” about submitting that last comment and “poof”, it got there!

    1. Giver ‘er time #1 NWO, you’ll get a chance to surf one up there. I’m just south of Oakland, CA, near the bay. In ’89, my cement foundation was moving up and down between 12-15 inches in waves. Good ride 😉 Left hairline cracks in the exterior stucco of my house . . . . .

      Liquefaction zone

      1. I’m about 20 miles or so east of Interstate 5, so it would take one helluva tsunami to get here, Mark.

  1. Wow. It’s amazing how over the past few days an earthquake has been happening almost once a day as it travels across the Pacific in almost a straight line. What are the chances? (sarcasm)

Tokyo, Alaska, Oregon….what’s next? San Andreas?
