As the war on drugs rages on in Mexico, former President Vicente Fox is pushing to legalise marijuana in the hopes of ending the bloodshed.

Fox gathered leading marijuana activists for a symposium to discuss the issue as he tries to raise public and political support on the issue.

“(There is an) urgent need of clear, objective information and that’s one of the purposes.”

More than 70,000 people have been killed in the country’s war on drugs.

Mexico’s current president Enrique Pena Nieto has opposed legalisation, but has not shut the door completely, saying the legalisation of recreational marijuana use in Washington and Colorado states has given him a more open mind than before.

  1. Anything less than total legalization of Herb isn`t enough.Total legalization will work as anything less will only be another scam on the people. The govt. knows that the laws against marijuana is based on lies.
