LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Latest on a shooting involving officers on a Los Angeles highway (all times local):

9:00 a.m.

Traffic is moving again on a section of northbound Interstate 110 in downtown Los Angeles after it was closed for hours when officers shot a man in lanes who charged them with a weapon.  

California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio says lanes were reopened around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Traffic on the key route backed up for miles during the nearly nine-hour closure.

Los Angeles police Detective Meghan Aguilar says highway patrol officers had responded to reports of a pedestrian in the freeway lanes.

She says the man was uncooperative and did not comply with officers’ orders.

Aguilar says officers opened fire when the man charged them with a weapon. She did not specify the type of weapon.

The man was hospitalized and his condition was unknown. He has not been identified.

Authorities say California Highway Patrol officers shot and wounded a man walking on a downtown Los Angeles highway after he charged at them with a weapon.

All northbound lanes of Interstate 110 are closed following the shooting early Tuesday, backing up commuter traffic for miles.

LAPD Detective Meghan Aguilar says CHP officers responded reports of a pedestrian in lanes. She says the man was uncooperative and did not comply with officers’ orders. Aguilar says officers opened fire when the man charged at them with a weapon. She did not say what kind of weapon it was.

The man was hospitalized in unknown condition. He has not been identified.

The north side of the interstate, a key route through downtown LA, is expected to be closed until at least 9 a.m.

5:20 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol has closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 110 through downtown Los Angeles following a shooting on the freeway involving a CHP officer.

Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman says the shooting occurred shortly after midnight Tuesday near Olympic Boulevard. She did not have additional details.

Investigators are still on the scene several hours later.

CHP Officer Alex Rubio says all northbound lanes of Interstate 110 and transitions to Interstate 10 are closed.

    Even at the best of times that’s THE worst freeway I’ve ever driven. Never again, thankfully!

    Someone MUST have video of the ‘confrontation’.

    Sure would like to see it.

  2. Amazing how one person can damn near shut down a city.
    I think there’s a lesson to be learned here.
    Don’t drive in the car pool lane speeding by yourself without paying the kings fee.

  3. Considering how trigger-happy the blue gang is, the suspect was probably armed with a drivers license, registration and proof of insurance.
