Nuclear experts to check if flight MH370 exploded

Experts at the organization monitoring the nuclear test ban treaty have been asked to see if they detected an explosion at high altitude of the missing Malaysian Airlines plane.

Lassina Zerbo, executive director of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO) told a news conference the organisation used “infrasound” – or infrasonic sensors – to monitor the earth mainly for atmospheric nuclear explosions. (source)

The request comes after it emerged that an Iranian man bought tickets for two men travelling on stolen passports. CCTV reveals that both men are of European appearance. The mystery Iranian is known only as Mr Ali, and he bought the tickets at a travel agency in the Thai resort of Pattaya. He has been buying tickets from the agent for almost three years and just asked for the cheapest tickets to Europe, not specifying the Kuala Lumpur-Beijing flight.

  1. That would be strange, as I would think if a nuke went off in the sky, it would be visible by mainland, in which many people would have seen it or reported a huge flash in the sky. Especially if it was at night.

    1. I think they are looking for the fingerprint of a normal explosion as they have very sensitive equipment(and i bet it listens for a lot more than nuclear explosions). A nuke going off where the plane ‘supposedly’ was would cause all sorts of electrical/rf weirdness and also visible to many many people.
