TSA to Purchase 3.5 Million Rounds of Ammunition

Enough for its agents to fire 9,400 bullets a day, every day of the year

The Transportation Security Administration is set to purchase 3.5 million .357 SIG caliber bullets, enough for its agents to fire 9,400 rounds a day, every day of the year.

According to a solicitation issued by the agency on August 16, the TSA is looking to buy “3,454,000 rounds of .347 SIG Caliber Training Ammunition”.

Although TSA agents in airports are currently unarmed, last month the TSA announced its plan to hire the use of a firing range within a 20 mile radius of LaGuardia Airport in order to train TSA workers.

The federal agency’s huge bullet buy could signal an expansion of its controversial Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) program, where teams of armed TSA officers patrol railroad stations, bus stations, ferries, car tunnels, ports, subways, truck weigh stations, rest areas, and special events.

VIPR teams currently conduct around 8,000 operations a year. As well as providing security at transport hubs, VIPR teams are now being used to keep tabs on fans at sporting events.

Earlier this month it was announced that VIPR agents would now be patting down Americans “outside the airport” by conducting stop and search shake downs at transport hubs and public events.

As Government Security News notes, the amount of ammunition being purchased, “means the TSA could fire off more than 9,400 rounds per day, every day of the year, to consume that entire quantity annually.”

Significant bullet purchases by the TSA are likely to fuel concerns that the federal government is arming itself to the teeth in preparation for some form of domestic unrest or other catastrophe, following the Department of Homeland Security’s commitment to purchase more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the course of the last 18 months.

As we reported last week, Congressman Jeff Duncan’s attempt to get answers on why the IRS is also training its agents with semi-automatic AR-15′s designed for “standoff capability” has been ignored by the federal agency.

  1. These ammunition purchases are used to prevent us from buying any ammo and at the same time and probably more importantly to use it as an excuse to build up ammo for their world UN Government army that is ready to wage war on the world. When this thing starts, they won’t be firing on just us Americans but on the entire world. The U.S. is practically the largest supplier of arms and ammunition and is one of the few places in the world left that can do it legally. Sure they can supply arms illegally, but then that would cost them money. So they are just killing two birds with one stone. That’s just my opinion.

Also, Janet Napolitano had explicitly stated a year or two ago that DHS has plans to branch their TSA agents to every country around the world, so this only further emphasizes my point.

    1. Not just counties but also countries around the world. Think about it. They want their North American Union for one thing. So this ammo will be used to take over not just the U.S. but Canada and Mexico as well. And that’s just for starters. This ammo is for a world war, not just America’s war. I think we have to stop thinking the guns are just for us and start thinking that it is for the global war that’s coming. It’s just that it’s up to us Americans and more importantly our DUTY as Americans and for humanity in general, to stand up and fight to stop it from spreading, as it is initially being done right here in front of us on our own soil. If we don’t stop it, it will not only effects us Americans, but also the freedom and liberties of every individual human being in the entire world as well.

      1. Don’t forget the FEMA Corp rats. I forgot them once & I won’t do it again. Got a bunch of those turds in my backyard now. FEMA Corp in Hooterville; go figure.

  2. Definition: TSA Tyrannical stupid ass.

We should be grilling the these ammo companies for abetting these fugitive terrorist.

    1. I have. All I get back is the same canned response that’s been prepared by some fruity lawyer in DC. Been right to a factory; same response, but with a face saying it, with all the indicators of them knowing it’s a lie. The don’t care as long as they get paid for the ammo & components. They don’t answer to God or the public; they answer to their stockholders.

So go ahead rant & rave about how “American” our ammo companies are…..their loyalties lie with the almighty dollar.

      1. Its always about the dollar. They aren’t stupid to what’s going on. They know exactly what is about to go down and they still sell out to whats the obvious. That holds them just as guilty in my book. Like I said in my post above, abetting the terrorist.

Good job trying its more than most would have done. it sucks it fell on deaf ears.
